A few tidbits that jumped out at me from this article ....

Investigators again interviewed a key potential witness on Tuesday, Chris Estrada, one of Fabian’s friends.
He is the owner of a white Ford Mustang that investigators seized and collected evidence from last week. Police said he is cooperating with the investigation but Sheriff Dodson said a polygraph test taken by Estrada on Tuesday was "inconclusive."

<snip>
A neighbor of Fabian's at his apartment complex said he had been asked not to discuss what he knew in detail. He did say he heard the couple arguing the night Zuzu disappeared.

An inconclusive polygraph doesn't mean much but it's interesting. How often are polygraphs inconclusive when someone is telling the truth? I will research.

There must be more that the neighbor heard than arguing for LE to ask him not to discuss details.

I did a little research on what an "inconclusive" polygraph means. It has little to do with the examinee and most to do with the examiner. So CE's inconclusive says nothing about his truthfulness and more about the questions asked.

In order to avoid “Inconclusive” test results, the examiner must understand the case facts in order to develop the best possible questions for this exam. But when all is said and done, there is still the possibility of the test being rendered as “Inconclusive”. This opinion is generally rendered in about 6-10% of cases however when a second test is administered, and examiner is able to render an opinion of No Deception Indicated or Deception Indicated in about 90% of those cases.

To accommodate all the new people coming to Websleuths because of the docuseries 'The Killing Season' we are moving to a much bigger and faster server.

The forum will be down starting Wednesday (tomorrow) at 6 PM Eastern. We hope to be back up by Thursday morning.

Thanks!!

My hinky meter is going off about the Mustang. I don't personally put a lot of weigh into lie detector tests, it's more telling I believe whether or not someone volunteers to take one. But that's just me. Wonder where CE and RF met up at. They live considerably far from each other. Did RF just happen to be in his area? Things that make you go hmmmm

New to the case, and haven't kept up with you all. Would someone mind giving me the cliff notes version of who what and where? Iv seen photos of ZuZu, makes me smile. Something about her eyes, she seems like a joyful spirit, hope she is found safe.

Thanks Lilibet.

It's just too bad that LE loves to act like inconclusive means deceit on part of the examinee.

They are very tricky. But I believe CE for now.

Welcome to the thread Knox. You might find Gardener's timeline and Skibaboo's map helpful to get you up to speed, links conveniently put into one post by Lilibet :)

We're only on Thread #1 so it won't be in the first post yet. :D (Sorry, couldn't resist)

But here they are...

These are unusual drives at night... to go to the River Road means going through at least one in-country checkpoint, possibly two. A Mustang is unsuitable for any off-the-road ventures. I've been thinking that the drive Wednesday night could have been to check on something done earlier Wednesday.

Do they record your name or vehicle info when you go through those checkpoints? IF RF rode around in a vehicle in an area that required going through checkpoints I wonder if he could have done it to establish an alibi or throw off any future investigation?

River Road is possible to get to without crossing the checkpoint. However, the routes are pretty well patrolled by CPB and ranch owners. That car would have been stopped or noticed if seen on any side roads, too risky. And it would take a few hours roundtrip of dodging giant jackrabbits lunging onto the road every 1/4 mile...a guy who loves his fancy car is not doing it. The mustang cruise was probably just a local cruise as his friend stated. *btw- "local" includes a solid 30 mile radius here. That doesn't mean the friend was unaware that he was chauffeuring RF around the area to check on things.

There is a checkpoint in Marfa that RF would have gone through when driving his mother to Presidio; and he would have traveled River Road (FM 170) as well. If they are searching those areas based on RF's cell phone pings, it seems to stem from that trip.

Returning from Presidio, there is Pinto Canyon Road (FM 2810). It is narrow, winding and often rutted out and impassable. There are plenty of steep cliffs and places to dispose of anything. There is no checkpoint and little to no cell service, but there are webcams and road sensors. Chances of being spotted by CBP and/or illegal immigrants hiding in the bushes make it pretty high risk.

If RF waited a day or so to transport a deceased body in a small SUV with mama riding shotgun and disposed of it on the return trip... Then either mama knows or he immaculately eliminated evidence.

All that (and my wordy posts prior) being said... if RF is guilty of her disappearance, she must be somewhere close to home. LE either has no real leads or they're bluffing. After an 11 day massive investigation, I fear no leads. As a woman in this town, that's really terrifying me.

I have complete confidence that Alpine LE and cooperating agencies will find ZuZu. Keep the faith, and yes, I believe she is close by. I posted my area of interest up thread.
Bring her home Alpine. God Bless.

Wanted to reply earlier. Attached an image of cameras set up at CBP checkpoints. From what I've seen this is typical at interior checkpoints.

I don't really have anything to add here. Just wanted to say that WS always has the smartest people discussing the saddest things. This situation is heartbreaking.

Bouncing off your post...I have confidence in LE too, roses. It's way too early in the investigation to worry that they don't have anything. It's a two-pronged investigation...find ZuZu and figure out who did whatever was done. All this in vast, rugged country. With an uncooperative boyfriend. They've only just begun and I'm very impressed. I hate to say it but this could be a long process. I really hope it's not. Whatever happens, it won't be for lack of LE trying. I don't recall a case using this many resources. Is this a Texas thing? If so...Yay Texas!!

This article's headline painted a darker picture of CE's inconclusive polygraph. It refers to him as "not cleared." As I posted above, most inconclusive polygraphs are because of the examiner, not the examinee. I hope they will redo the polygraph.

"For roughly 4.5 hours Estrada was questioned and according to Brewster County Sheriff Ronny Dodson, the polygraph test did not clear Estrada from the investigation just yet.
Due to the nature of the investigation Dodson could not elaborate further on Estrada’s interview."

My gut feel is that she is near town or to the north. There are so many eyes watching south of Alpine that it would not make sense.

Someone noted up thread that her car was clean and it does look clean in the pictures, which seems highly unusual in Alpine. Even if she had just washed it, as soon as the wind blows it's dirty again

I just wanted to add, as far as car movement goes, I recently learned of a new software which tracks this. It's called TLO, and basically it compiles all the photos of a car that is captured by a police car. So if any of these people even passed a cop there would be a record of it. Very neat but creepy software. My husband just got it, and I made him run a report on me, and it was insane to see how many times my car I haven't had that long, had been snapped by police cars.
