Just heard on the morning broadcast on CBS7 that RF will have a hearing at 9am this morning. (11/08/2017)

*DWI Hearing - TX - Zuzu Verk (21) (Oct. 12, 2016) - for Chris Estrada (28) on DWI & Evading charges; will either enter plea or court date will be set for these charges; his 2 counts of tampering w/physical evidence/corpse & tampering w/evidence jury selection on May 15th and trial date set for May 21, 2018.
Robert Fabian (26) accused of 1st degree murder // motion for change of venue; his 10/13 hearing called off & reschedule (no date) defense asked for change of venue-continuance for this motion. No update on dates for Robert as of 12/15.

ALPINE -- The attorneys for both suspects in the murder case of Zuzu Verk were in court on Friday in Alpine.

Attorney Harold Danford who is representing Robert Fabian filed a general discovery motion to obtain information including motions for arrest and conviction records of the State of Texas' witnesses.

There was no talk of where Fabian's change of venue will be.

The change of venue for Fabian was granted back in August.

Danford tells CBS 7 that they plan to take their case to trial and say that Fabian is not guilty.

Chris Estrada's attorney Jim Darnell requested that the plea deadline for his DWI and Evading Arrest charges be extended, which was granted by a judge. The deadline was originally set for January, but will now be extended by 90 days.

Estrada was charged and arrested in January as he was still being considered as a suspect by authorities in the disappearance of Zuzu Verk.

Both Fabian and Estrada were arrested and charged with murder in February after the body of Zuzu was found.

UPDATE: Robert Fabian was in court Friday morning for a pre-trial hearing on his murder charge in the Zuzu Verk.

Following the Dec. 15, hearing two motions were agreed upon.

The state has to reveal any agreement made with Chris Estrada in regards to his testimony and the arrest and conviction records on any state witnesses will be released.

Fabian's lawyer tells us a motion to request for change of venue has been granted, but the court hasn't signed off on it yet.

A trial date has not been set at this time.

Rogers tells us that she wasn't let go by Fabian as she was hired by Fabian for the investigation portion of the case.

Caldwell County has a population of less than 40,000 and is south of Austin. At least it’s not as far for Zuzu’s parents to travel for the trial. Don’t they live near Dallas?

Keller, I believe. More Fort Worth, but still easier for them to travel. Straight down I-35 either way.

But San Marcos is in Hayes County, not Caldwell, although it’s very close to the county line. The article says that Caldwell County is east of San Marcos. The county seat of Caldwell County is Lockhart, so I expect the trial would be there.

BREWSTER COUNTY-- CBS 7 has confirmed that Robert Fabian is no longer being held at Brewster County jail. The reasons for his release are not known at this time. Stay with CBS 7 as we gather more details on this story.

As of this article from last March, Fabian’s bond was $925,000. I’m not sure if that changed, but he could have been bailed out by someone. Wonder who would/could do that. Would that be $92,500? Here’s hoping he doesn’t disappear.
