As of this article from last March, Fabian’s bond was $925,000. I’m not sure if that changed, but he could have been bailed out by someone. Wonder who would/could do that. Would that be $92,500? Here’s hoping he doesn’t disappear.

What about the Change of Venue granted from Brewster County to (?). He would be moved at some point to the other County and simply show as no longer in custody @ Brewster?
I just think if it was bond it would show as the reason.

Fabian will be tried for the murder of Zuzu Verk in Caldwell County, nearly 500 miles away from Brewster County.

That's according to the Brewster County District Clerk.

Yes, being moved to Caldwell county crossed my mind. Wouldn’t that show as a reason also? I guess we can check to see if he’s in custody there. I’m not sure how to do that.

I don't think so. The notice from the above link showed "Reason: Other reason".



Perhaps CBS7 will check Caldwell after 24 hours? (or Tuesday) I have seen it take some time for a transfer to show.

It's likely most people in Caldwell County won't have heard of the case, but I can't imagine they will go easy on him. It should be an easier location for her family to attend the trial.

I will ask have to ask my mil if she has heard of it. Keep you posted.

Local snapshot: Lockhart, the county seat, used to be a sleepy little town known for its barbecue which went through major family barbecue drama a few years ago. Talk of the town... Now, it is a rapidly-growing bedroom community because people keep moving to Central Texas and housing is less expensive in Caldwell County.

Interesting venue change.

Easier on Zuzu's family... good to hear they get some relief. The trial will be hard enough... I cant even imagine.

Zuzu Verk was a loved Sul Ross student who went missing in October 2016, she was found dead in a shallow grave in February of this year.

And that’s OK until the jury is picked. RF will never be able to claim that the jury wasn’t impartial. The fewer grounds for appeal the better IMO. Caldwell County will hear all about ZuZu during the trial. Sweet girl.

*DWI Hearing - TX - Zuzu Verk (21) (Oct. 12, 2016) - for Chris Estrada (28) on DWI & Evading charges; will either enter plea or court date will be set for these charges; Atty appeared in court 12/15, no resolution, maybe in January.
Chris (re Zuzu) has 2 counts of tampering w/physical evidence/corpse & tampering w/evidence jury selection on May 15th and trial date set for May 21, 2018


*Pretrial Hearing - TX - Zuzu Verk (21) (Oct. 12, 2016) - Robert Fabian (26) accused of 1st degree murder / filed motion for change of venue.
10/14 Update: Robert Fabian's hearing was called off & rescheduled (no date) defense asked for change of venue-continuance of this motion. Wait for update on Robert to move. No update as of 10/30 A pretrial hearing for Robert Fabian was scheduled for the morning of Wednesday, November 8. However, the judge in the case decided to continue the hearing, pushing it back to a later date. That date has not been determined at this time. 11/8 hearing was postponed, no further dates given; no update as of 12/3. Atty appeared on 12/15, 2 motions were granted - change of venue & the agreement with Chris Estrada in regards to his testimony and the arrest and conviction records on any state witnesses will be released. A trial date has not been set at this time. Return in January.12/22-Trial moved to Caldwell County
