Murder investigation launched in Glastonbury | Avon and Somerset Police

A woman also inside the property also sustained stab wounds and was taken to hospital for treatment. She has since been arrested in connection with the incident and is now in police custody.

Detectives from our Major Crime Investigation Team have charged a 53-year-old woman with murder.

It follows the death of Glenn Richards, 61, at a property on Chilkwell Street, Glastonbury in the early hours of Tuesday (19 April).

Dawn Lewis, of Chilkwell Street, was charged this afternoon and remains in police custody pending an appearance at Yeovil Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Friday, 22 April).

A post-mortem examination concluded Mr Richards’ preliminary cause of death as multiple stab wounds.

Glastonbury woman has denied killing a man on Easter Monday. Dawn Lewis, 53, of Chilkwell Street in Glastonbury, appeared via video link at Bristol Crown Court today. (June 10, 2022)

She pleaded not guilty to the murder of Glenn Richards, 61, on April 18. Judge William Hart pencilled in a trial at the court on October 18, yet to be allocated a judge. He remanded Lewis in custody to HMP Eastwood Park.

In a 999 call played to the jury, Ms Lewis told the call handler: "I don't know really what happened, he (Mr Richards) is a lodger, I wanted him out, I said 'now'.
"I went to open the door, he stabbed me in the leg, I took the knife off him, I stabbed him, he fell down the stairs, I stabbed him again because he'd been trying to take the knife off me."
The jury has been told the doctor who stitched up Ms Lewis's wounds suggested they may have been self-inflicted.
