Hi Everyone!
It's nice to be here! Please pardon my mistakes while I learn the ropes of searching and posting on the forums.
I've been a crime fanatic since reading the children's books ,'Hawkeye Collins & Amy Adams,' and have always been most interested in Mystery novels, television and movie genres, with some early faves like Murder She Wrote, Matlock, Perry Mason, Columbo. I had a magazine subscription to Ellery Queen even though most of the content was way over my head. Always a sucker for any version of Sherlock Holmes. As a young adult I ate up RL Stine
For the last few years I've been gobbling down true crime podcasts, as I'm a dog walker and spend a lot of time on the go. Only recently did I hear about online sleuthing / actual citizen detectives. And that was through Michelle McNamara's book, 'I'll Be Gone in the Dark." Probably like many of you, I was halfway into the book when I heard the GSK had been caught. I made myself finish the book before I allowed myself to peek any of the news regarding the arrest. I'm a glutton for punishment.
Which brings me to my recent finish, "Chase Darkness With Me" by Billy Jensen. I was not expecting him to outline a "How To" guide for getting started solving crimes via social media, but I'm so glad he did. I'm ready.
That said, I need some help with setting up Google alerts for local news articles. I've managed a create a few but I feel there must be some nuances to make the alerts more effective.
Thanks if you made it this far! I look forward to connecting with like-minded folks
