It struck me that the ‘twine’ wrapped around the neck could possibly be the remnants of dried out umbilical cord?? but presumably this would have been recognised as such by now.

( Just a hope on my part that the baby’s death was natural & not murder.)

An investigation underway into the DNA of a baby whose skeleton was discovered under floorboards by property renovators indicates it was a boy.

The remains of the baby, which had twine around its neck, were found in an upstairs flat on Fore Bondgate, in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, on 29 July this year.
