UK - 2024-Harshita Brella,24,found dead in a car boot in east London, 14th November

Absolutely tragic that she clearly took legal steps to protect herself and it wasn't enough. I hope they catch the husband, they must know which country he fled to
Says he left Sunday do we think that means today? Unbelievable if this is the case although my first reaction was ‘good riddance’ I admit

Both their names (Harshita and Pankaj) are from India (his is also common in Nepal.) We had a case years ago where it took UK authorities years and years before India would accept an extradition order for a crime (I wish I would remember the name) it was a nightmare.

Edited: to add the name of the case I was referring to. Murderer/rapist Aman Vyas who committed the crime in Walthamstow, London in 2009. Ten years later, his legal team in India was still fighting the extradition order. Not sure what happened next. Also the murder of British student Hannah Foster who Maninder Pal Singh Kohli kidnapped and murdered, crime committed in 2003 and immediately after he flew back to India. Took four years to bring him back to the UK to pay for his heinous crime.

I think this is her YouTube channel. It looks like the last video posted involves leaving India to go to the UK ten months ago (though I can't watch with sound on right now and the subtitles are in - I think - Hindi).

Absolutely tragic.

International manhunt launched for husband of Harshita Brella after the 24-year-old was found dead in the boot of a car 100 miles from her home in Ilford

This is from the first police press release:

A murder investigation was launched after the body of a woman, who police have now named as Harshita, was found in a car in east London. The finding came about after Northamptonshire Police received a call on Wednesday, November 13, regarding concerns for Harshita’s welfare.

Officers were deployed to her home address in Skegness Walk, Corby, and after getting no answer, launched a missing person investigation. Fast-track enquiries were made which sadly led to the discovery of a woman’s body inside the boot of a vehicle in Brisbane Road in the Ilford area of London, in the early hours of Thursday, November 14.

So, they receive a phonecall about Harshita on Nov 13, they go to her house, she is not there and they launch a missing person investigation.

Straight away, they know who their suspect is. They can notify everyone, including airports.

FOUR days later, he flees the country.

What a joke.

‘I want justice for my daughter’, says mother of murder victim Harshita Brella

The mother of a woman who police say was murdered before her body was left in a car boot in east London has told the BBC: “I just want justice for my daughter”.

Harshita Brella’s mother, Sudesh Kumari, spoke through tears to the BBC from the family home in Delhi.

Ms Brella's father, Satbir Brella, added: "I want my son-in-law to be brought to justice and I want my daughter's body brought home."

Ms Brella was "very excited" to move to the UK in April after an arranged marriage with Pankaj Lamba, her sister Sonia Dabas said.

Must be a special kind of hell for her poor parents, especially knowing they played a part in their daughter meeting this man (not that they could have predicted this outcome). It frustrates me beyond measure she couldn’t be kept safe from her abuser, as she must have ticked every vulnerability box that there is.

I can’t imagine raising and loving a child only for them to be killed, thousands of miles away, somewhere I couldn’t help. It seems from the interview the sister was aware of physical abuse from the husband. I am desperately sad as to why more couldn’t be done, from family or the police force. All JMOO

Local news suggests "domestic", given multiple residents in the household, I imagine housemate is also possible along with partner/family:

A scene guard is still in place at the home in Corby. Forensic officers have already carried out extensive searches. It’s thought at present the incident is a targeted domestic crime. [my note - article from early today, this may be out of date by now]

A neighbour told our reporters [...] that the house involved had been used as an HMO [...] and had been largely peaceful since some noise complaints were resolved last year.

But earlier this week she heard a commotion.

"The way that gate slammed I knew something had happened.
“Someone took off quickly.

“I had heard banging coming from the house and then they obviously just legged it.

what's an HMO?
