I can't even imagine the pain this mom is going through. I can only pray they were separated and she will call her mum.

Olivia was with her best friend Adam at the concert, he is injured in hospital, but Olivia's family are trying to late her. Olivia's mum was on Good Morning Britain a short while ago understandably very upset. If you see any updates about Olivia please post.

press conference - most horrific incident they have faced. 22 people have died and 59 are injured. Believe terrorist attack was by 1 man who detonated an explosive device. They are trying to establish if he is part of a wider network. Children are among the deceased.

Press conference has concluded.

Full statement from the latest police press conference

Police: full statement

Chief constable Ian Hopkins confirms that 22 people have died and a further 59 have been injured.

This has been the most horrific incident we have had to face in Greater Manchester and one that we all hoped we would never see.

Families and many young people were out to enjoy a concert at the Manchester Arena and have lost their lives. Our thoughts are with those 22 victims that we now know have died, the 59 people who have been injured and their loved ones. We continue to do all we can to support them. They are being treated at eight hospitals across Greater Manchester.

This is a fast-moving investigation and we have significant resources deployed to both the investigation and the visible patrols that people will see across Greater Manchester as they wake up to news of the events last night. This will include armed officers as people would expect. More than 400 officers have been involved in the operation during the night.

To remind you, we were called at 10.33pm to reports of an explosion at the Manchester Arena at the conclusion of an Ariana Grande concert. More than 250 calls came in and emergency services were very quickly on scene. Emergency numbers have been established for anyone who is concerned for loved ones who may not have returned home: 0161 856 9400 or 0161 856 9900.

We have been treating this as a terrorist incident and we believe that while the attack last night was conducted by one man, the priority is to establish whether he was acting alone or as part of a network.

The attacker, I can confirm, died at the arena. We believe the attacker was carrying an improvised explosive device, which he detonated, causing this atrocity.

We would ask people not to speculate on his details or to share names. There is a complex and wide-ranging investigation under way.

Our priority is to work with the national counter-terrorist policing network and UK intelligence services to establish more details about the individual who carried out this attack.

Manchester Arena: where kids first taste freedom

---
Manchester has managed to keep itself off the terror map in recent times. Despite standing united with Londoners over the attacks there, Northerners who are old enough won’t have felt something so close to home since the 1996 IRA bombing, which left 221 injured.

And for those kids in the arena — many who see the big city as the centre of their world — that concert will be their coming of age moment for all the wrong reasons.

Heartbreaking seeing the Tweets and messages from the worried families of missing people, reminds me of watching A Song for Jenny about a woman looking for her daughter after 7/7.

Just beyond belief that someone would target a place full of kids

I felt so sick reading about this through the night. I'm due to go to a concert in Manchester myself on Saturday (not at the Arena) so this feels very close to home. A friend of a friend has a colleague who hasn't been found yet and as time passes it's looking less hopeful.

Absolutely heartbreaking that someone would launch an attack at a venue that is mostly children/teenagers, but amazing to see the response of the people of Manchester.

Tips for parents with children who are asking about the attack - http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/13865002

A nurse at a Manchester hospital is appealing for people in Manchester to give blood if they can as they are apparently running low.

Still children stuck at the Holiday Inn hotel and very sadly no parents have collected them.

Good Morning Britain @GMB
If you can't get in contact with of your children, the Holiday Inn hotel in Manchester has sheltered 50+ children. Please call 0161 836 9600

(I know...:( O/T, recently here in the States, in San Bernadino, CA, a guy was mad at his wife, she was a teacher who taught special needs kids, he went into her classroom and opened fire, shot her and kids then killed himself. Link:

I am so confused about those 50 children. How come no one has picked them up?

I have to think that that is an error, unless they are the children of people who were injured, but surely some relatives would have claimed them.

I don't know if that number is accurate. There may be parents seriously injured in hospital who have been separated from their children in the chaos.

Also roads around the area are closed and public transport is limited. I've been following things on the BBC and haven't heard that figure so it could be incorrect....
