I am so confused about those 50 children. How come no one has picked them up?

Hopefully they are just quoting last night's figure.

I think Greg is right, likely some of these children's parents/guardians may have been seriously injured and unable to collect the child or advise anyone.

My thoughts are with them all, so, so frightening for young children, super excited and out for a fabulous evening at a concert, for it to end as this nightmare.

RIP to those who did not make it home and thoughts with the injured and all the families 🤬🤬🤬

Daily Mirror is reporting that the number of child and adult casualties is equal - waiting for additional confirmation before this should be considered a fact.

Prime Minister Theresa May due to make a statement soon. It has been slightly delayed.

Appears this thread needs to move to the terrorist forums.

I have two questions which might be stupid, but I'm confused.

What kind of age group (the children) are we talking about here? Are really small children going to this artist's concerts? I mean, children who can't properly talk yet and tell their name etc? Otherwise I don't understand why children are "stuck"at the Holiday Inn? Any child older than, say, 4 or 5 would be able to give name and address etc for family members to be contacted, right?

And I was wondering why there are people unaccounted for and said to be missing. Police say 22 are dead and more than 50 injured and in hospital. Are these people not identified? Wouldn't relatives get the information from LE whether or not their relative is among those deceased or in hospital? Or is it simply still all too chaotic?

Sorry if these are dumb questions :blushing:

I don't know the answer to question one.

Second question - I think the remains of the victims may be in a bad way there are reports of body parts. It may take a while for the victims to be formally identified so their families have not had their death confirmed.

As awful as it sounds, it took up to two weeks for some of the 7/7 victims to be officially identified.

As crowds poured into the foyer at the end of the concert, Emma described spotting a figure dressed differently to others with "risen bits" underneath his clothing.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/mum-says-15ft-manchester-arena-10480455

"But for one second I turned and saw bright red top in the crowd with a grey panel down the front with risen bits all over it.

"It was that which stood out because it was so intense among the crowds of people.

"As quick as I saw it the explosion happened."

Godspeed, Manchester

I'm going to a concert next month and I will not be afraid. I will not let these monsters dictate how I will feel, ever!

Stronger Than Fear

Theresa May Prime Minister of U.K statement- key points - beyond doubt a callous terrorist attack, 22 people have died, 59 injured in 8 hospitals (some in life threatening condition), threat level of terrorist attack to remain at severe meaning an attack is highly likely.

I think by missing they are most mean unaccounted for, so this could be that they are injured and perhaps unconscious/have amnesia. Or that they are among the dead.
The other possibilities is that they have lost mobile phones in the chaos, and in this day and age many teenagers won't have a family members phone number memorised as they're saved in their phone
Either way I'm incredibly saddened by this attack on children and young people

Of course, that could be a reason ... :(

When I was 12 my girlfriend and I went to see David Cassidy (my mother accompanied us). We were so excited and happy and it was a wonderful concert and evening. That's how it should be. Teenagers enjoying themselves and enjoying music.

I'm so sad for these kids.

"The family of an eight-year-old girl missing since last night's devastating terror attack in Manchester have issued a picture of the youngster in a desperate bid to find her.

Saffie Rose Roussos went to the Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena with her older sister."
