Born in Manchester in 1994, the second youngest of four children his parents were Libyan refugees who came to the UK to escape the Gaddafi regime.

His parents were both born in Libya but appear to have emigrated to London before moving to the Fallowfield area of south Manchester where they have lived for at least ten years.

They had three sons in total and a daughter, who is now 18-years-old.

Abedi grew up in the Whalley Range area, just yards from the local girl's high school, which hit the headlines in 2015 when twins and grade A pupils, Zahra and Salma Halane, who were both aspiring medical students, left their homes and moved to Isil controlled Syria.

There were unconfirmed reports in Manchester that the whole family apart from the two elder sons recently returned to Libya.

I hope that the authorities find every single person who has had any association with this terrorist, whether personally or on any social media. Then check out all of their social media and associates.

It is time to get aggressive over this. Time to aggressively pursue this and save future lives.

This is my opinion. Every single person who has been in contact with this terrorist has to be followed, both publicly and in their social media.

Anyone who associates with a terrorist has given up their rights as a private citizen.

Other countries, including the U.S. have offered assistance to Great Britain in any way they can. I hope they take all of the assistance and we all work together to find these evil individuals to prevent future atrocities.

All of the countries will benefit from working together on this, towards safety of innocent citizens.

Praying for Manchester and all victims of evil intent.

UK Police Confirm Manchester Suicide Bomber Was Salman Abedi, Son Of Libyan Refugees

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-...r-suicide-bomber-was-22-year-old-salman-abedi

From link in quoted post.

Commentators also pointed out that the Manchester attack took place on the fourth anniversary of the killing of Fusilier Lee Rigby in Woolwich, south-east London. Chris Phillips, the former head of the National Counter Terrorism Security Office, told BBC Radio Four's Today programme: "That may be significant as well."

Ariana Grande’s tour is not canceled or postponed

"Ariana Grande’s tour has not been canceled or postponed despite reports online, according to a person close to the situation, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the person was not allowed to publicly talk about the topic.

The person said that Grande and her team are more focused on the victims at the moment, not the tour.

Concert promoters at London’s O2 Arena, where Ariana Grande is scheduled to perform Thursday and Friday, say they are in contact with the singer’s team about her next steps."

It's at times like this, knowing that there are people from all over the world praying for us and our loved ones and we are not the only ones affected

So far, the Salford alert seems to be a suspicious package, left underneath a bench. No main news outlets carrying the story - let's hope it will turn out to be nothing to worry about.

The man who murdered 22 people and injured 59 others has been named as Salman Ramadan Abedi, a Mancunian of Libyan descent.

Police confirmed the 22-year-old’s identity after officials in the United States passed it to news reporters, apparently against the wishes of the police and security services in the UK.

Earlier, armed police sealed off Elsmore Road, a street in the Fallowfield area of south Manchester, and then carried out a controlled explosion at the terraced house where Abedi lived.

Officers also searched the home of his brother Ismael in the Chorlton area of south Manchester. They arrested a 23-year-old man near an address where the family had previously lived, prompting speculation that Ismael Abedi had been detained.

Salman Abedi is thought to have been known to both the police and the security services. A few hours after the attack, Islamic State claimed it had been carried out by “a caliphate soldier”.

*Mancunian means a resident of Manchester.

At least two other addresses linked to Abedi were also raided with more arrests expected in the next 24 hours.

I would imagine there may be a few false alarms in the coming days I'm glad the authorities are being so cautious.

I can't watch the vigil I am so upset seeing that little Saffie, only eight, has been determined to have died, along with Georgina Bethany Callander and John Atkinson. Olivia Campbell's parents continue to desperately search and wait for news. Other families are also desperately waiting it is horrendous.

Welcome Fairyland and to all new members.

Politico went on to report that one of those arrested at this point in the investigation was Abedi’s brother. His parents emigrated to London from Libya before moving to the Fallowfield area of south Manchester, where they have remained for over 10 years.

A 23-year-old man was also arrested in the southern part of the city early Tuesday morning in connection with the attack. In addition, Abedi has a sister named Jomana Abedi.

One of those arrested was Abedi’s brother, one of the security officials told POLITICO.

I say the show must go on, although I completely understand anyone being too traumatized.

I'm with you! She is just a young woman herself but so many young women look up to her. She must be traumatized herself.

Abedi was born in Manchester to Libyan-born parents Samia Tabbal and Ramadan Abedi, a security officer, who emigrated to London before moving to Fallowfield 10 years ago, the Telegraph reported.

He grew up in the Whalley Range area, near a girls’ high school that made headlines in 2015 when twins Zahra and Salma Halane, both aspiring medical students, moved to ISIS-controlled Syria.

Abedi has a brother, Hashem, 20, and sister, Jomana, 18.

Jomana attended Whalley Range High School and worked at Didsbury Mosque in 2013. She said on Facebook that she has many Libyan connections.

http://nypost.com/2017/05/23/cops-identify-ariana-grande-concert-bomber/

The suspect was named by US security services in Washington DC.
Those who live on the same red-bricked semi-detached street said they know little about those who reside at the address.

Turner said that ‘two young lads’ live at the house in question, but that he knows very little about him.

Another resident, Mr Kinsey, said that an Asian man in his mid-20s appeared to have been living in the semi by himself for the last nine months, but that he had many visitors.

‘At different times there were a lot of different people living there,’ he said. ‘It was a young lad over the last 12 months.’

He said he had little contact with the man in the house, save for one interaction when he complained about a car being badly parked and the man gave him the middle finger.

Kinsey described the man as being tall and skinny, and said he mainly wore traditional Islamic white clothes.
