12 children in hospital with life threatening injuries. (BBC radio news 7 p.m.). Thoughts and prayers with them and their families.

(Some of my first initial thoughts included I hope Skibby's ok, and remembered her dear late friend Baljeev liked the Manchester soccer team and Skibby got a memorial jersey made in honor of him, am I remembering this correctly? Anyway, funny how I associate Skibby with the entire country, lol.)

Thanks everyone for the updates.

The suspect was a Manchester-born man of Libyan descent who was known to police and security services, The Guardian reported.

His Libyan parents, who have lived in south Manchester for at least 10 years according to The Daily Telegraph of London, fled the regime of dictator Muammar Gaddafi.

His father, Abu Ismael, worked as a handyman in the city.

“Abu Ismael will be terribly distraught,” a member of Manchester’s Libyan community told The Guardian.

“He was always very confrontational with jihadi ideology, and this ISIS [Islamic State] thing isn’t even jihad, it’s criminality. The family will be devastated.”

The suspected attacker’s father is known by the honorific Abu Ismael in the Libyan community and worked as an odd-job man in Manchester, according to The Guardian, but is thought to be currently in Tripoli.

Several sources say that the parents of Salman, and perhaps his younger sister, have returned to Libya and are living there. It appears all 3 of the sons were continuing to live in the UK.

Great. I hope this BBM isn't true.

A 23-year-old man arrested by police in a separate move in south Manchester in connection with the attack on Tuesday was believed to be Abedi's brother, news reports said.

Abedi had a sister named Jomana Abedi, the U.S. security officials said.

The Guardian newspaper reported that Abedi's identity was confirmed by British police "after officials in the United States passed it to news reporters, apparently against the wishes of the police and security services in the UK".

Ariana Grande suspends tour following Manchester terror attack

<snip> " Grande's management put out a lengthier statement, saying "words can not express our sorrow for the victims and families harmed in this senseless attack."

The Manchester concert was to be the first of three concerts in the UK.

Her next concert was set to take place on May 25 at the O2 Arena in London.

Other dates included shows in Belgium, Poland, Germany and Switzerland. "
Ok so they are suspending not cancelling or postponing. They will most likely be liaising with Met Police and also maybe some merchandising staff were victims perhaps and could also be witnesses?

From above (catching up, sorry if repost):

"Dan Coats, the director of national intelligence, told Congress that the extremist group frequently claims responsibility for terror attacks.

The Islamic State group says one of its members planted bomb in crowds in the suicide attack at an Ariana Grande show Monday night that left 22 people dead. The group warned in a statement on social media that more attacks are to come.

Testifying Tuesday before the Senate Armed Services Committee, Coats says though he was aware of the IS claim of responsibility, U.S. authorities hadn't yet verified that.

He says the Manchester attack is a reminder the terrorist threat is real. He says, "It's not going away and it needs significant attention.""

I wish Foxfire was here. This was another one of his "subgenres" (ISIS)

She'll be touched you thought of her, but not about the football bit - she's a die-hard Liverpool fan and you don't get much more arch rival than that!!

Ariana Grande’s tour is not canceled or postponed

"Ariana Grande’s tour has not been canceled or postponed despite reports online, according to a person close to the situation, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the person was not allowed to publicly talk about the topic.

The person said that Grande and her team are more focused on the victims at the moment, not the tour.

Concert promoters at London’s O2 Arena, where Ariana Grande is scheduled to perform Thursday and Friday, say they are in contact with the singer’s team about her next steps."

Conflicting reports indicate they are undecided? But Yes, Victims, staff may need to be interviewed. Not much time before London IMO

(While this is so horrible, I do feel grateful to be communicating with so many people around the world, especially in the UK here; WS really is an international family!)
