I would imagine there may be a few false alarms in the coming days I'm glad the authorities are being so cautious.

I can't watch the vigil I am so upset seeing that little Saffie, only eight, has been determined to have died, along with Georgina Bethany Callander and John Atkinson. Olivia Campbell's parents continue to desperately search and wait for news. Other families are also desperately waiting it is horrendous.

Welcome Fairyland and to all new members.

(Flashbacks of 9/11...)

Ariana Grande's tour plans unclear after Manchester attack

"Grande's website still lists the May 25th show as her next performance.

We are shocked and deeply saddened by the terrible tragedy in Manchester,” a rep for The O2 told Fox News. “Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected and their families. We are in contact with the promoters of Ariana Grande’s tour and will update as soon as we have further information regarding the planned dates at The O2. Anyone visiting The O2 should allow extra time for enhanced security checks.”

Meanwhile, a rep for Pala Alpitour in Italy, where Grande is scheduled to perform on June 17, also told Fox News that they are waiting to get official word from the singer’s management team before making an announcement about whether or not the show will go on as planned. "

That makes me very sad that the father of the suicide bomber had tried to confront Jihadist ideology and did not want his family involved in that mess--but couldn't stop it. It is very depressing. If the parents cannot prevent this kind of radicalization, who can? :sigh:

BBM. Probably too soon for that discussion here yet. However, there is emerging focus in the field of those who study and work to prevent islamic radicalization that the biggest risk group currently for radicalization are the domestically born citizen children of immigrant/ refugee parents. Some of these young adults are very angry and disillusioned with western culture, and feel they don't belong in the country of their birth, or the culture of their parents. Straddling 2 cultures, and experiencing a lot of internal conflict.

Focusing on the young adults born in the U.S. to refugee parents has been a big part of the strategy where I live, with anti-radicalization programs-- which are not necessarily always embraced by the immigrant communities.

I know that's a controversial thing to put forth, especially while feelings are so raw with grief, so will leave it at that for now.

"Terrorists attempt to disrupt our lives and create distrust and fear in communities," Chief Constable Hopkins said in his 6:30 statement. "We have a long history in Greater Manchester of communities standing together during difficult times."

It's a sentiment that rail-worker Rowe echoed Tuesday, though Victoria Station is closed for the time being. "I was back in this morning and I have to say I am so proud of how this city has got back on its feet," he says. "Manchester is a strong city and although it is awful, it has brought people together. People won't let these idiots stop us. I'm proud to be British on days like today."

(While this is so horrible, I do feel grateful to be communicating with so many people around the world, especially in the UK here; WS really is an international family!)

And we in the UK feel grateful that so many people across the world care too. Thank you!

This truly is an international disease and we must work together to try and fix it.

This is directed at the media, not anyone here, but IMO, Honestly, I'm getting irritated about the aspect of whether or not her concert will continue. Obviously the show and life will have to go on at somepoint, but right now everything is a total clusterfudge and I think everyone needs time as this plays out, victims are found, identified, treated, info is gathered, the artists/public gets some rest and processing time, etc etc..obviously the next show will need updated security measures which in itself will need time and planning. Hope this is coming out OK but I think the least of concerns right now should be when her next concert is. Jmo moo.

(9/11 will never go away. Think about Manchester, now imagine this with thousands of people, the missing, the identification process of all the body parts...not minimizing this event by any means, just saying I'm feeling some old wounds being opened up, and remembering the magnitude of it all, all those people...)

We know how it feels, UK.

A Scottish teenager who was reported missing following last night's attack at the "Manchester Arena is being treated in hospital for serious injuries.

Laura MacIntyre, 15, has been found but her friend Eilidh MacLeod, 14, has not been seen since the suicide attack last night.

Just doing a bit of digging and it seems the bomber has worked at and attended Didsbury mosque, notorious for previous ties to Jihadis, though most articles are of the Islamic Centre denying knowledge of the people or their intentions. The secret services will be well acquainted with this mosque so it looks like one who slipped the net. https://www.ft.com/content/59ee15dc-3fc5-11e7-82b6-896b95f30f58

I sincerely hope that Ariana Grande can find the strength to continue her tour and go on to London and that people can attend with extra vigilance, But gosh Ariana is just a young person herself and this can just scar everyone. Many young people will now struggle with PTSD unfortunately.

Just sadness.

I just saw this post, had I seen it earlier my above post might have been written a little differently (re: the continuation of her tour); well stated Steleheart.

(Eta: I see we quoted each other simultaneously lol)

Continuing to pray for all affected by this tragedy.
