If you read the article, you'd see that JG is working with the Manchester Police to ensure the money goes where it should.

I think that's prudent.

Sorry I should read the whole thing before commenting just on the strange wording.

Yes, seems the leaks are making them angry and not the terrorist. Since the ones that are known are able to go around freely is ok but if one commits murder their name being exposed is the problem. Passing failures to someone else.

If he was known seems his contacts would have been known.
I think issuing his name gives associates a heads up and they may bring forward plans or scarper before LE can trace them. It can cause more deaths therefore, not to mention destruction of evidence. MOO.

I totally agree, i hope the leaker and the journalist(first one that reported it) are fired. I do hope it's found out who did this.

[h=1]Greater Manchester Police warn of fraudulent online fundraising pages[/h] 25th May 2017
In the wake of the Manchester attack on Monday evening, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) is warning people to be cautious of online fundraising pages as it has emerged that fraudulent pages are being set up which request donations to support the families of the victims.
[h=2]Spot the signs[/h]Fraudulent fundraising websites often use topical events, such as a terror incident or natural disaster, to make it look like their charity has been created only recently in response, while the website may also be badly written or have spelling mistakes.

<modsnip>

<modsnip>This is a case of murder and conspiracy to murder stretching over several national and international borders . We need cooperation and compassion not hindrance and criticism in these circumstances. Shoulder to shoulder and all that.

<modsnip> That's why terrorism is so aweful, it's a crime that creates an ongoing and permanent fear. I feel for you all.

<modsnip> The UK is still one of the safest places.<modsnip>

England will always be home to me and it doesn't feel any different now than before recent attacks.

Personally both leaks and terrorism make me angry and both are a threat to lives and our security.

Please can we cool it out of respect for the victims?

Personally both leaks and terrorism make me angry and both are a threat to lives and our security.

Me too, but the implication that the UK only cares about the leaks is both untrue and a slur against the people of the UK.

<modsnip>

<modsnip> it is possible to be angry/upset about more than one thing at a time, and my being annoyed that information crucial to the investigation was leaked is nothing on the anger and sadness I feel on behalf of the victims and their families.

Admin Warning

Some of you need to step away from your keyboards. NOW.

I am in the process of reviewing and issuing TOs.

Good gosh! The VICTIMS are what matters here. Shame on those of you inserting your own agendas!

Salman Abedi’s support for terrorism was reported this year to the security services, and friends had called Britain’s anti-terrorist hotline five years ago with concerns about his views, it was claimed. He was reported for violent statements, including a claim that being a suicide bomber was “OK”.

Intelligence sources have emphasised how difficult it is to assess suspects on the periphery of investigations. Against a backdrop of limited resources, security agencies and police have been deluged with the number of terror suspects and acquaintances they must triage.

Not sure who leaked what to who. Seems that mi5 knew about him through locals/family/intelligence, not sure who/how the media reported what was suppose to be kept close to the vest.

I think that one thing T-May was really angry about was the photos of the victims being released to the press.

Five planned terror attacks have been prevented since the Westminster attack on 22 March – a sharp and disturbing increase on the average in recent years of one foiled plot every three months.

The workload facing security officials trying to prevent attacks is now said to be “unprecedented”.

It comes as Greater Manchester Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said detectives had made “significant” developments in their investigation.

“I want to reassure people that the arrests that we have made are significant, and initial searches of premises have revealed items that we believe are very important to the investigation”, he said.

The days since Monday’s attack have been “intense” for police staff, he added.

A total of eight people have now been arrested in the UK, in addition to Abedi's father, Ramadan, and younger brother, Hashem, in Libya. A woman who was arrested on Wednesday has since been released.
