DONALD TRUMP HAS VOWED T GET TO THE BOTTOM OF US LEAKS OVER MANCHERSTER BOMBING

Telegraph liveblog
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/05/25/manchester-arena-bombing-latest/

Donald Trump has vowed to "get to the bottom" of US leaks over the Manchester bombing and said the culprit should be "prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law".

The US President has been warned by Theresa May that the fact sensitive information about the investigation has repeatedly been handed to American media could undermine the “special relationship” between the two countries.

Amid a major transatlantic row over leaks of key evidence in the US, ministers say that shared intelligence being leaked in the US risks compromising the fast-moving inquiry.

Describing the security leaks as "deeply troubling" during a speech in Brussels, Mr Trump said they "pose a grave threat to our national security".

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2017/05/24/manchester-after-bomber/340478001/
Tuesday night, the space at the tape belonged to news crews, belonged to the world. It belonged to those telling the same bloody story as Tel Aviv, St. Petersburg, Paris, Brussels, Nice and Boston.

But Monday night the same streets were still Manchester’s.

This was where mums in pajamas brought flasks of piping hot, sweet tea for the children of strangers and for the police. This was where locals offered a warm room — even a bed for a night — to families they had never met before.

And this was where random motorists turned up offering lifts. Taxis from as far as 30 miles away in Liverpool queued to take hundreds of stranded concertgoers wherever they needed to go.

Trams and trains from Manchester's Victoria Station had ground to a halt.

Manchester took heart from this instinctive solidarity Tuesday. A few hundred yards from the police line is a statue to Victorian reformer Richard Cobden, his sideburns long and his right hand tucked in his waistcoat.

To his feet Mancunians brought flowers and a mood of defiance. Somebody had used gray gaffer tape to stick a yellow card to his marble pedestal:
This is Manchester. We unite. We are strong. We open our doors to strangers. We give free taxi rides.
The city’s Sikh community marched into the city center waving banners saying, “I ❤ MCR," the city's airport code. Bystanders erupted into spontaneous applause as their colored turbans arrived in Albert Square in the shadow of Manchester’s sandstone Victorian town hall, St. George’s cross and Union flags both at half staff amid its turrets.

Here was the biggest crowd of the day. They gathered to hear words of defiance and strength, and they were not disappointed.

As the clocks struck 6, dignitaries emerged to the gentle chords of British composer Edward Elgar. And then silence fell.

<modsnip> The UK is still one of the safest places.<modsnip>

England will always be home to me and it doesn't feel any different now than before recent attacks.

<modsnip>

I have no doubt all in the UK will remain strong and united. Our country did the same when 911 rocked us all to our very core.

My heart is with all of you and the tragedy your country has suffered with so many senselessly losing their lives or left seriously injured due to this diabolical monster that preyed on innocent people in Manchester.

I have no doubt it will make all of you even stronger and going on about your daily lives is the worst thing the extremists wants to see. They want everyone to buckle and be afraid. It will not happen there just like it did not happen here when we saw 3000 of our people horrifically murdered by radical extremists.

IMO

I think that one thing T-May was really angry about was the photos of the victims being released to the press.

I think she was equally upset that his name was leaked prematurely by TNYT when they were right in the middle of doing raids to find more terror suspects. That was the very reason the Manchester investigators had not released the name of the bomber yet and they knew if they did it on the first day it could give others who may also have terrorist ties a chance to flee or time to destroy evidence.

I did see May and Trump together today on the news and they both seemed very relaxed with each other as they chatted.

Its good to know that he told his DOJ to open a full investigation of the leaking in this matter. I am sure he told May the same, and assured her they would do everything possible to find the intelligence leaker, and punish them when they do.

STOP all these comparisons between policies and laws of the USA and the UK. The USA's policies/laws have ZERO to do with this terrorist attack that happened in the UK.

Clearly, NO COUNTRY has the market on how to effectively deal with terrorism. If that were the case, every civilized country on the planet would have adopted those proven policies by now.

I have my thoughts and ideas as do others. NONE of us have all the answers. And this thread is not the place to opine about them.

Let's just have compassion for any country and their citizens who have suffered such a brutal, senseless attack.

Yes this! I wish I could have stated it so eloquently instead of ranting. My only agenda is love and compassion, and to conquer fear which I (attempt to) do on a daily basis. And fear is a global problem, anxiety is a global epidemic and every place on earth has it's cause and affects. It's happened through history, atrocities and attacks. The modern age, the internet and live reporting brings everything closer to home. it affects people globally. I have people on my site who didn't realise until they entered therapy that the health anxiety they had about the mole they thought could be cancer, the twitching they feared was ALS, was actually anxiety triggered by 9/11. Fear is a very powerful emotion, hate is a very powerful emotion, but LOVE conquers all !

POTUS spoke warm words about the victims.

Sincerely hope he can get to the bottom of it. As the article says T..May has warned that info repeatedly being handed over to US media is threatening the special relationship and Trump admits it is a grave threat to National Security.

Heads will roll IMO.

Alleged Manchester bomber phoned mom before attack, said 'forgive me'
Manchester is home to one of Britain's largest Libyan communities. Mohammed Fadl, a community leader, said the Abedi family is well known, but Salman did not attend many gatherings.

"Very few people in the community here were close to him and therefore Salman's fanaticism wasn't something the community was aware of," he told the AP.

He said he had heard that Salman's father took his son's passport away amid concerns about his close ties to alleged extremists and criminals.

Authorities are investigating whether Abedi could have been stopped, after Libyan community members in Manchester reported concerns about his views.

Akram Ramadan said Salman Abedi had been banned from Manchester's Didsbury Mosque, one of the largest in the city.

"There was a sermon about anti-Daesh (IS) and he stood up and started calling the Imam -- 'You are talking bollocks,"' Ramadan said. "And he gave a good stare, a threatening stare into the Imam's eyes ... he was banned."

Today I am going to focus on the names of the beautiful souls whose lives were torn away.

I missed the moment of silence so I will have my own moments of silence in reverence to those greatly loved people and their loved ones.

Even though I am thousands of miles away, today I will only focus on the beauty which has been torn away from this earth.

Sending prayers of strength, love and comfort to all affected and especially to those in the hospital.

This is a beautiful post. Your screen name is so fitting of your gentle , sweet soul...
and others here as well who are offering kindness and comfort.

Please keep in mind it wasn't the entire US intelligence service. There are a few rogue players that need to be removed and prosecuted IMO.

Thank you for that. I live in South Manchester (Levenshulme) and this happened within sight of my office in the City Centre. I would hope that my fellow citizens would not judge the entire US Intelligence Service for this and would recognise, as you correctly IMO point out, that this was the doing of a few rogue players.

Exactly, it only takes one idiot, just as we can't judge all Muslims. Sending love over the tops from Leeds :rose:
