APPEAL: Fresh CCTV appeal in search to find missing Abdul in Rotherham

Detectives investigating the disappearance of 25-year-old Abdul in Rotherham are issuing further stills from CCTV capturing the lead-up to his disappearance, which they hope will trigger something in the memory of somebody who saw him that day.

Abdul was last seen by his family in the Moorgate area on the evening of Sunday 12 February. The last sighting of Abdul on CCTV was exiting Milton Road at the junction with Hatherley Road, Hardwicke Road and Eldon Road and entering the park area near Eastwood Village School and the River Don at 6.33pm.

I saw police put out their first appeal only two days after he went missing and have posted two more since.
It's not too common in the UK unless it's a child or someone vulnerable.
I'm thinking mental health issues such as depression, and/or in need of medication.
Some comments on those posts are just vile =(
Sounds like there are a few ultra-racists in that area, I hope no one hurt him =*(

I wonder if he encountered trouble? Bearing in mind Rotherham's chequered history with the Asian grooming gangs, could he have been subject to a racist attack, especially out alone?

Detectives investigating the disappearance of 25-year-old Abdul in Rotherham are issuing further stills from CCTV capturing the lead-up to his disappearance, which they hope will trigger something in the memory of somebody who saw him that day.

Abdul was last seen by his family in the Moorgate area on the evening of Sunday 12 February. While our initial appeal stated this was at 7.30pm, we now believe that this was before 6pm, as Abdul was subsequently sighted on CCTV at around 6pm at a local shop on Badsley Moor Lane.

It is thought he then walked through Clifton Park as CCTV captured him entering the park from Parkfield Road at about 6.20pm. This is displayed in the first image here.

CCTV then captures him heading leaving Cottenham Road and crossing Fitzwilliam Road onto Milton Road at about 6.30pm (images two and three).

The last sighting of Abdul on CCTV was image four a few moments later, exiting the other end of Milton Road at the junction with Hatherley Road, Hardwicke Road and Eldon Road and entering the park area near Eastwood Village School and the River Don. Please note that the timer on this camera is incorrect and it was actually 6.33pm.

In these images, Abdul is circled in red. There are two people circled in blue in image three, a person on what appears to be a scooter on the left and a woman walking on the right. In image four, there is a man circled in blue walking towards this junction from the direction of Eldon Road.

We would like to trace these people as they may have seen something that evening which could help us in the search to find Abdul.

Detective Chief Inspector Aneela Khalil-Khan, who is overseeing the investigation to find Abdul, said: “It’s nearly three weeks since Abdul was last seen. His family and loved ones are now incredibly concerned about him.

“We have had a team of officers reviewing hours of CCTV footage and have been able to pinpoint his movements down to the four images you see here. We would like to try and trace the three people shown in these images as they might remember seeing Abdul that night and may have information about where he went next that could prove key in our search.”

As previously stated, he was last seen that day wearing a black puffer-type jacket with blue jeans and dark coloured trainers with white soles.

Underwater searches have also taken place in the River Don this week as part of our efforts.

DCI Khalil-Khan added: “We continue to work with the family to piece together his movements before his disappearance too.

“If you have anything that may help bring Abdul home, then please let us know.”

We are sharing new photos of missing Rotherham man, Abdul, as we continue our search for him today (Thursday 9 March). The 25-year-old has now been missing for almost a month, having last been seen on Sunday 12 February.

That evening, Abdul was captured on CCTV at 6.33pm, crossing Eldon Road and entering Eastwood Park. He was wearing all black clothing. Despite extensive CCTV and door-to-door enquiries, we have no leads as to where Abdul went from there and continue to urge everyone in the area to check their dash cam, CCTV and doorbell camera footage to help us establish his next movements. It’s possible he left the park by walking along the canal tow path in the direction of the train station or Rotherham town centre. A map of this route is pictured.

Overseeing the investigation, Superintendent Andy Wright said: “We have a team of officers dedicated to searching for Abdul but someone in the community could hold some vital footage or information that can help to progress our inquiry. If you live in the area, or were driving through Eastwood or Rotherham town centre on the evening of Sunday 12 February, please check any camera devices to see if you captured Abdul.

“Abdul’s family are understandably struggling and we are doing all we can to find him for them.”

In a statement released yesterday, Abdul’s family described him as “generous and honest”, saying their family is not complete while he is missing. Speaking directly to him, they said: “Abdul, if you are listening to this, please get in touch and let us know you are okay. We want nothing more than to have you back home where you are safe and where you belong.”

SEARCH: Officers take to Rotherham streets to issue leaflets in search for missing Abdul

Officers searching for missing Rotherham man Abdul were out speaking to the public over the weekend, handing out posters and leaflets featuring his face in a bid to jog the memory of somebody who may have seen him.

The 25-year-old was last seen in Eastwood over a month ago, on Sunday 12 February.

On Saturday (11 March), officers spoke to security staff and shoppers at Parkgate Shopping Park, retailers on Fitzwilliam Road and members of the public at Eastwood Park where Abdul was last seen.

They are back out in the area today (Monday 13 March) and will be speaking to everyone they can in the hope somebody may know something which can assist the search.

Clearly something has changed for this man, and at only 25, I don't think it can be explained by aging. He looks terribly sad in his most recent photo.

Young men are so mentally vulnerable around this age. I recognized that look straight away, it's how my son looks in his latest photos after becoming ill last year

The only positive thing I can say is that the police really seemed to do everything they could to find him with their appeals and updates and searches. They did their best.

Police have confirmed that a body has been found in the search for Rotherham man Abdul who has been missing for over a month.

Abdul, aged just 25, was last seen on CCTV in February on the night that he went missing. He was seen on footage captured on February 12 crossing Eldon Road in Rotherham and entering Eastwood Park. The last sighting of Abdul was made at 6.33pm and despite extensive enquiries, the police investigation into his disappearance had no further leads for a month.

In a short statement on social media, South Yorkshire Police said today: "Police officers searching for missing Rotherham man Abdul have found a body earlier today (Tuesday, March 14). While formal identification is yet to take place, the family have been informed and continue to be supported by officers at this time."
