I hate dwelling on it but I think what broke my heart the most - like I'm sure all of you - was when the judge said that Alesha had woken up and spoke to him. It was bad enough up until that point but to hear that was really hard. The fact that he gave her his hoodie because she was cold, she probably felt safe, it honestly nearly made me cry. I don't know how her family must have felt. That poor little girl. It's still hard to fathom.

Yes this made me burst into tears and I kind of wished the judge hadn’t made those details public, for the family’s sake.

The stop himself from laughing thing upset me so much too. Even after all that, all that he done, and he somehow found it funny? And actually admitted that to the doctor. Can’t even get my head around it and I’m glad coz that must mean I’m normal.

I cried when I heard that as well. Standing in my kitchen crying my eyes out. Awful.

Genie should NOT go visit him. Absolutely no chance

I did share a video a few days ago. It's based on a study by neuroscientist James Fallon. He studied brains of psychopaths. I think it was just serial killers but not sure if other psychopaths were studied. Basically he had the exact same brain structure as a psychopath. It made sense to his family, his lack of remorse etc. Due to his upbringing he lead a normal life without crime. He is at an age where there wouldn't be easily accesible material on the internet. I don't know AC's history but there's a high probability he was abused IMO. I also think the internet and whatever he saw on there could have influenced his thoughts and enhanced his depravity. I'm not excusing anything he has done, no excuse what so ever. It's worth looking into of you're interested in that side of things.

A charming physchopath. Nothing charming about him of course.
I agree. My point is being popular and seeming normal and nice is part of the psychopaths persona. Kind of like how a chameleon blends in.

Here's a clip from the programme with Jim Fallon (it might only play in the UK):

That as well. Horrible. I know exactly what you mean. I think sometimes we can criticise ourselves or worry if we don't care enough or if we deal with things in the right way, but then we have people like Aaron and it kind of puts things into perspective. Sometimes I think I can be a bit emotionally detached, but then I see someone like that and I say "I think I'm doing okay.".

I’m sat here now just really angry all the rumours everything his mother and father would have known he had serious issues . Why why was nothing done about him before .

I wonder if the family move to Bute (IIRC) was partly in response to their concerns about him. This case -- not the details but AC himself -- reminds me a bit of the Doris Lessing novel "The Fifth Child."

I just can't read or think about this anymore. Thanks and best wishes to all who remember and mourn Alesha, and hope for her family and friends.

Thank you! I was. He was literally like a foot away from me and my heart was breaking for poor Georgina and I just thought "He is utterly deranged." It really is a cruel world at times.
How did you get in to observe a youth court? In England they're behind closed doors?

It was open to the public. I think after his anonymity was lifted it wasn't treated like a youth court anymore. Plus I think the laws are slightly different in Scotland the rest of the UK, I don't know the specifics though.

Watching the live stream I cried almost as soon as the judge starting addressing ACs comments, and it steadily got worse, openly sobbing when he said he told her he was a friend and was taking her home and then he had to pause for the crying(Toni,Genie?),i honestly dont know how you managed to hold it together, but again thankyou so much for seeing it out

Maybe it should have been up to the family of Alesha if they were in agreement to name him. I suppose it has a point that naming him does nothing but line the newspapers pockets and in time cost the tax payer huge amounts in the long run if they are released with new identity’s. The thought of him ever walking the streets again makes me very uneasy though.

He was tried in an adult court. All juveniles on trial for murder are tried in adult courts, as are all juveniles who commit crimes in conspiracy with an adult offender. The youth courts are for less serious offences with no adult involvement.

He probably wouldn’t have been named if he hadn’t tried to put the blame on dad’s girlfriend.

Yes - this hindered his annoymity.

I get the impression that they already had family there and/or visited there for holidays. I won't go into details of their housing history but there is a 3 year window from moving tto Bute to being at the house he lived when committing the heinous crime. Maybe they lived family until getting their own place or just upsized.

I live 40 minutes from Shrewsbury and it is a lovely place. I can see the appeal in living on a beautiful island like Bute though.
