Her perfect son could do no wrong, is the impression I get with her. Even when this happened she seemed to have to get pushed into checking the CCTV. I suppose we'll never know how much his father knew.

I don’t think she was pushed to watch it. She asked for advice from a friend (TMs aunt) about handing it in to the police though. The handing it in to eliminate him from their enquiries is BS IMO. Who wakes up their som asks if they know anything about the disappearance of a 6 year old and then says ‘remember who ever done this their DNA will be all over this’. I believe she knew. Or at least had a gut instinct.

I think so too. Didn't she initially say that she checked the cctv to see if there was any footage of Alesha passing by or am I imagining that?,I just feel that she backtracked a little in the press interview and passed the blame to Toni or Toni's aunt to absolve herself of the blame that her son and husband had placed on her.

Excuse me if I missed this, but why did she have CCTV in the first place? It wouldn't surprise me if she installed it due to suspicions about her son and what he was up to.

Completely agree with you guys saying she knew. She KNEW her son was a wrongin. IMO
I don’t have children but I do have nieces and nephews. Been thinking of my little 3yr old niece who lives in Edinburgh, and how much of a fun bubbly little interesting person she is. In 3 years time she’ll be the age Alesha had her life taken and was destroyed. That word destroyed is what AC (sh1thead) did to her. It’s mind-blowing.
I’ve been thinking about AC’s mother. Do I feel sympathy for her or anger? What do you do with a monster in your home? Did she do nothing? Or did she seek out help from authorities throughout his life?

I’m with cappuccino - the real reason for installing cctv was to protect her family from the monster. IMO

My hunch is that she did seek help for him but he didn't or couldn't get the necessary help due to a number of factors. Also, there probably was a bit of a cover up too and that falls into the "protective/ not easy to make a decision/ lets see what's happens" scenario.

It's an awful situation to try to contemplate,I have 4 boys and I can't even imagine what I would do if I was faced with doubts of this or even a lesser magnitude,it hurts to try.I would like to think I would do the right thing for them and everyone else,but it's easier said than done,they are my babies
I feel bad for Janette and blame her somewhat at the same time,it's so conflicting

Yes, I’ve been trying to get into the head of a ‘mother’ as I am not one myself. I can only go by having nieces and nephews, which is not the same. Weak parenting annoys me. I feel angry with his parents. Whilst having some sympathy.
Are there not any resources available in the system to help parents with problematic children? It must be hard, living your child knowing they are dangerous.

Of course, we don't know what he actually has done before, maybe that would make it a bit easier to judge. I don't think though that you can judge anyone in these circumstance - who could really see this happening.

I think that it's been mentioned on previous posts that there isn't anything specific to determine psychotic behaviour in children under 18yrs.

Even where there is help available, it has to be asked for. If the parents are in denial about their little darling then no amount of help will actually help.

My friend whose son I posted about a few pages back only asked for help after she caught her son trying to set fire to the house in the middle of the night. Up till then she was in denial despite all kinds of other warnings.

Yeah that was why she said she looked on it initially to see if Alesha had wandered past. Right enough I walked from ACs house to Aleshas grandparents on google maps and it is straight road adjacent to the sea.

Yes I’ve always thought the CCTV was more for ACs movements although I was shocked how many people on an island with apparent low crime rates have CCTV. Nearly everyone along that street.
