The search for a missing Edinburgh woman who vanished on New Year’s Day has entered its second month.

Alice Byrne was last seen leaving a friend’s flat in the Portobello area of Edinburgh on January 1, but has not been seen since.

Despite extensive police searches, there has been no trace of the 28-year-old since her disappearance.

Alice was last spotted at 10am on Marlborough Street, and it is believed she was headed towards the beach.

She left home without her phone and no one has seen or heard from her since her day of disappearance.

Police have said it is out of character for her not to keep in contact with family and friends and are increasingly concerned for her wellbeing.

[...]

It is believed that missing Alice is vulnerable, and police have urged the public to report any information they may have about her whereabouts or sightings to 101 quoting reference 0647 of 2 January.

Thank you for the update!
Hate that there has been no news

Zero news or updates throughout the whole time she has been missing seemingly. Apart from her first being missing from 2am leaving the family home, changing later to the broad 8am - 10am leaving the party.
Did she not go to a beach party between being home and the house party? I'm wondering why the police are not reaching out publicly to ask, did you see or speak to Alice at the beach party? Was it people alice met at the beach party, whose house party she went to ? MOO

COPS are continuing their desperate search for missing Edinburgh care worker Alice Byrne, more than a month after she vanished from a New Year's Eve party.

The 28-year-old was last spotted at 2am on January 1 in the city’s Bath Street.

It is understood she was planning on going to a beach party in Portobello, but hasn’t been seen since.

When she failed to return home, twin Bruno and frantic pals began a desperate social media campaign to find her.

[...]

A spokesperson for the force confirmed the search is ongoing and the family are being supported.

Bath Street?? Thought Marlborough was last sighting? So she may then have turned left and not reached beach at all?

That article used the information given the first day before it was updated when they realised she had gone to the party on Marlborough St overnight.

Bath street is where she left her family to go to flat party, probably via the beach party.

The police say she headed to the beach from Marlborough Street 8-10am on the first.

Where is the reference to that, please? Not sure I came across it.

The older poster made before this can still be seen in a few places online where people haven't deleted it. This is what the Sun have used for that article unfortunately.

I see now! My own first post at start of thread mentions Bath Street.

The family of a young woman who vanished in the early hours of New Year’s Day are becoming increasingly worried for her welfare.

Alice Byrne was last seen at around 2am on January 1 and is understood to have attended a Hogmanay beach party in Portobello, near Edinburgh.

The 28-year-old has not been in contact with her loved ones since, sparking a social media plea from her brother for help to find her.

.

Bruno Byrne said: “My sister Alice has been missing since New Year’s Day. Last seen around 2am.

“We are all really worried and ask if anyone has seen her or spoken to her please contact the police.

“We believe she is in Edinburgh or East Lothian potentially but she could be anywhere..."

[...]

Alice was wearing a long black t-shirt, black jeans and a mustard yellow/orange hoodie when she was last spotted on Bath Street.

It is understood that she left home without her mobile phone and her disappearance has been described as out of character by her family.

When was this? I never saw anything mentioning Bath Street, until now.

On the very first appeal for her seen publicly on the 3rd of Jan. It was very quickly replaced as the info the marlborough party info came through.

I can't link it as its from one of her families fb who still has it up.

Personally, I would go back to Marlborough Street.

There seem to have been no sightings arriving or leaving this alleged party in a property there. Was she ever there?

As it stands, either she headed to beach and consciously or unconsciously under the influence of something, went into the sea, or someone knows something as they have been party to foul play.

Strategy, it’s the last definite sighting, with her family, and places everyone (including those with CCTV) back to Bath Street 2am. Rule out everything else, focus on what is definite. JMO.

Nah its just rubbish reporting. Because it's the Sun.

The police updated this straight away and stuck with the latest timeline.

First MSmedia for a little while, drops mention of Marlborough Street. Says Bath Street 2am. New report today.

Frantic search continues one month after Scots care worker Alice Byrne vanished

Go over CCTV for the local area from 1st January 2am onward. Have a good long look at Marlborough Street. JMO.

What are we looking at/for on Marlborough? ;)

I posted that new Sun article above and questioned Bath Street. Is it just lazy journalism as @Doughy inferred, or is there some more significance?

Police update was 4 weeks ago. Investigation is underway, so everything’s on the downlow.

Have to admit when I first saw the article I thought it was bad reporting too, then considered something else. Time will tell with further news articles and events.

JMO.
