How do we know if a party actually existed?
Have the hosts of this party come forward and given statements?
If not, was the party an online ruse?
Where are the other party attendees?

Last seen by her family, not last seen at all though.

"Alice was last seen by her family at her home around 2am on Saturday, 1 January. She met friends in Marlborough Street and left a flat there around 10am on Saturday."

I'm open to all possibilities at this point. Though as Dean, who went missing around the same time only a couple of miles away, hasn't been found either I do wonder if there were perhaps unusual riptides going on in the Forth estuary that day.

The reply to these questions would be seriously speculative.

We can give opinion and disclaim replies as our opinion. Much of what you ask is in places like FB land. Typing in Alice Byrne Portobello in a search will bring you answers to these.

Police Scotland have interviewed many people and been working on this. No names of associated have been officially released.

The Forth isn’t known for riptides, please don’t report me for not placing a link to prove this.

Dean’s a different story

Nice one @Doughy. Your 2 examples are far from shore. My reasoning is the 2 cases Alice and Dean would both be near shore and not in far-out deeper open water, where these fast tides swell and move. The current doesn’t have much pull in shallow water which stretches quite far from the beach.

JMO I don’t believe Alice went in the water.

The original story was:

.......
Alice was last seen at around 2am on January 1 and is understood to have attended a Hogmanay beach party in Portobello, near Edinburgh.

Young Scots woman who vanished after Hogmanay beach party sparks urgent search
.......

And as is often the case a while later there are updates as the media learns more.

.......
UPDATE: Alice Byrne is still missing but the time she was last seen is now 10am on 1/1/22, leaving a party on Marlborough Street, Portobello, Edinburgh.

.......

Not sure why there is such confusion.

Is the 10am firm now? I thought it was the broad 8am-10am for ages ?

I'd noticed they'd dropped the 8am bit from posts recently. But not confirmed there was a definite 10am sighting!

Not necessarily. The one I posted was from the 4th Jan. but there were others after that were still stating 8 - 10 am., so who knows.

I noticed in the Sun article I posted above it said she was a care worker.

Anyone come across any reference to what line she was in?

JMO

Could be she worked as a careworker for a business which supply carers to elderly people’s homes.

So would it be more likely she would work with the elderly, than say, perhaps ex-offenders, on probation, or those with drug or mental health issues, settling in community, that kind of thing? Or is it not known?
