Hertfordshire Mercury:

Mysterious Stanstead Abbotts grave: Bones found in burial site are 'ancient'

The mysterious bones discovered in an unmarked grave in an East Herts churchyard are 'ancient', according to police.

Police forensic officers had spent two days investigating the burial site.

A local resident had raised concerns about the site on Monday (April 3), which was believed to have appeared at the Old Church of St James in Stanstead Abbotts in September.
---
Chief inspector Gerry McDonald said: "As a result of the appeal my team have now received information which could identify the grave."

Confused by the use of decades and ancient. Jmo
The bones are much older than the grave site in which they were interred, evidently.
