Jmo but if I wanted to start a new life, I think I would just go to work and not come home, for example, rather than stealing away from a planned outing with friends, who are likely to notice pretty quickly. But just thinking as I type, as I really can’t think how I might do it, if I lived with other people who expect me home all the time. Living alone, as I do, I could probably do it much easier before an alert was raised or a report filed.

Anyway I can’t see this being the case here. Jmo

His fiancé has said the phone call was to a friend to tell them which pub to go to.
How does she know if they have not found his phone or him.

I don't think he has just decided to run away. He has not used his bank card, he would need a lot of money to just disappear. He has 4 kids, he would not just leave them before Xmas, even if things were bad at home or work or whatever.

Waitrose is also next to the river, albeit on the west side (the side the pubs he had been drinking in were). To the side of waitrose is a car park which is quiet, but if you look site directly next to the river.
I think if he was heading towards Waitrose his path would not take him near the river or the car park. But I can see its proximity behind Waitrose and he could have come to the river afterwards. I'm just having a hard time understanding what his purpose would have been venturing further beyond Waitrose. Even the bus stop was at the front. It is however very close to Eastgate Wharf, which is one of the heavier crime-hotspots noted on the police map earlier today.

I think there must be because the detective, when speaking about AK rubbing his hands together in one of the videos, said something like "We seeing him doing that at the pub too". Jmo.

Edit: Ah just saw Tortoise beat me to it!
Hi all, please bear with me as this is my first post, I have been silently following this story but wondered where his fiancé posted a photo of his phone? Thank you
I don't understand, how can she show his phone if he had it with him. She said he has not used his bank cards. Well he couldn't could he if they are at home. Very strange. Gets more stranger by the day.

It was a photograph she already had , i.e , an old photograph .

Completely agree. Knowing Lewes, I can't see that harm of a criminal nature has come to him. It is of course possible, but unlikely, he is a young guy and people would have seen or heard something.l if an altercation took place. IMO the only plausible explanation therefore is the river. But it is how he came into contact with it that is quite baffling. The Pells area is just flooded land and I think even a drunk person walking into that would realise and turn round and walk away. For me he has to come into contact with the main river channel that was flowing quickly and dangerously.

Maybe the friend he rang told her, or told the police who told her.
Or, the police accessed his call records and told her.

This case reminds me so much of Liam Colgan back in February 2019. He went missing during his brother's stag weekend in Hamburg, walked out of a bar just like Anthony. There was some CCTV footage but not much and to all intents and purposes he disappeared off the face of the earth.

Unfortunately, there was water nearby and the worst happened. Truly awful. I hope that there's a better outcome with Anthony

Yes , I immediately thought of Liam , after much searching by his family and police , much discussion and speculation , the water eventually gave up his body after a time . The least complex , easiest explanation was indeed the correct one . Hoping for a better outcome too

Thank you...I know I was still nagging about the floods, getting into perspective if Anthony could have fallen in the water. I see a lot of obstacles getting near the water, but also "a try-able" path...
Is that a pub at the end were the lights are on?. The pathway is very near the river, I'm surprised it doesn't have a big fence up to protect anyone from falling in.

Can the police access your phone calls/texts if they don't have your phone. I know the first thing they look for is your phone.

Would the friend not have a record on HIS phone of the call ? Don't need A s phone

But what would be the merits ? There's a pay-off to be had by every action and I'm not seeing what his pay-off would be , especially with an action as extreme as that . You're not escaping anything if you're running away with an unholy mess on your conscience .
On a more basic level , it's a way overly-complex scenario for someone who has a pretty straightforward life . Simplest explanation , an' all that , and simpler solutions to problems are the ones that are generally sort .
He would need his passport. Has that gone from his home? He never had a bank card on him. Or any clothes or money so he's not going to get far is he.

Yes if the friend rang him but someone could have rang afterwards. Why did he look anxious? Unless they were late meeting other people in another pub and AK was getting anxious because they were late. He could of left to meet the others in another pub and got lost.

Yes I thought that but can they actually see the texts or just know what number they have come from.
