I think he either switched his phone off because maybe the battery was dying so he was trying to save it or he didn't want to be reached.
Yeah, the CCTV is around everywhere so I completely agree about him going somewhere off the normal track

A CCTV camera has captured a sighting at 7.4pm on Friday night of Anthony Walking walking up from Lewes Fire Station, on Market Street in Lewes town.

This is 20 minutes after last known sighting of the missing fire fighter from Orpington who left the Lamb of Lewes Pub in the town.

The images has been confirmed by his Partner and has been passed to Sussex Police to help assist with their ongoing search.

( am guessing it should read 7.40pm )

Why was he near the fire station, was this another meeting place? Or is this on route to taxis or the train station?

"The Rights of Man pub has a camera situated perfectly for seeing Anthony but the Landlord is refusing to show CCTV footage to anyone or check it. One person who asked the man to support the search said he has been rather nasty apparently, this footage could be crucial."

Just some comments I thought were interesting

He has a serious expression, I almost want to say angry? He looks determined as if he knows where he's going (as opposed to just taking a stroll). He does not seem drunk. All moo.

At least they now know which direction he went. Is this close to the river?

Odd isn't it? Maybe he was meeting a firefighter buddy. Jmo.

If I've got the right fire station, unfortunately it looks close to water. I'm not 100% because it's not on Market Street, but I don't think there'd be 2 fire stations so close together.

I was looking at getting CCTV for my home recently and discovered there are a lot of data responsibilities that go along with having it.
Guidance on the use of domestic CCTV

A business can’t just hand out their recorded footage to whoever asks for it regardless of the situation. I’m sure they would be fine providing it to the police who follow strict data protection guidelines.

I was thinking possibly his phone battery/sign died whilst try to get in contact with whoever for a lift home? Heading to the Fire Station seems a sensible move in that scenario, a lift home, use of land-line, probably knows fire fighters stationed there. The article makes it sound like he was walking away from the station thou? He clearly didn't arrive or make contact with anyone there (that we know of anyways) :(

WTF...?? *The Rights of Man landlord/CCTV* info. is suspicious as hell!

I think that's it Legally - very close to the river

the Rights of Man pub is in the opposite direction, so not sure there would be any cctv of Anthony on there - still not very kind of the pub landlord not to check though

I hope the Police are given full access to any CCTV footage a.s.a.p. in a situation like this. They know the rules/guidelines & surely know how they'd need handle procedures correctly? They must have had access by now!

*I assumed the landlords refusal to access included the Police in my previous post. Apologies if I read that wrong.

Directions for walking from the Lamb of Lewes to the Fire Station include a route along Market St , which then becomes North St when it reaches the fire station

According to the poster of the cctv he was not near the fire station he was walking down market street heading toward the war memorial

If I understand this right..this CCTV footage of him is where is walking away from the fire station and is seen on the Market street? I'm confused a little.

Theres a lot of information on Lewes social media page that is stating the phrase "walking away from the fire station " meant only the direction he was walking..ie the firstation would have been behind him ..but the cctv is on market street much lower down ..so the info is stating there is no reason to think he went to fire station

That’s how I also understood it. Seems strange that it’s from 24 mins after he left the pub, yet is only 2 minutes walk away. I feel like the reporting on it implies he has possibly been to the fire station and back again into the town centre which would cover the 20 minutes there abouts.
