Has anyone else read that Anthony's phone was last used at 7.20 pm on Friday, but not switched off until 1am on Saturday?

Concerns grow over London firefighter missing after Xmas night out

"Superintendent Katy Woolford, who is leading the investigation, said: "We have made extensive enquiries in the Lewes area with pubs, shops, takeaways, taxi and bus services and have analysed CCTV footage but to date have not been able to locate where Anthony is."

This is so awful for his family, I hope he's found soon :(

This is so troubling. I really had hoped the CCTV would of helped.

So it is known that he wasn't driving himself. Rules out a car accident.

I suppose Uber and similar services were also checked w/o results? So he either walked after leaving the pub or went with someone else by car. Moo.

Or he never left? Has the building been searched? Is there access to the roof or basement?

Checking taxis and buses is a standard procedure of a missing persons case it doesn’t automatically mean he didn’t drive.

However I’d imagine he absolutely didn’t drive as it was a pre-planned day out drinking, it’s likely a minibus or some sort of private transport was organised for the group. There doesn’t seem to be direct transport between Orpington and Lewes and if he said he’d be home by 2am that is much later than the last train.

I saw it reported a day or so a go that he was due home at 02:00, ready for his night shift that started at 03:00. I wonder if that is actually correct? Can't seem to find the articles saying that now, will have a look.

His partner had a night shift that she had to leave for at 3:00. It's in the BBC story below which is quoted in the first post in this thread.

"Mr Knott was due home at 02:00 GMT on Saturday and Ms Otto said he was "very adamant" he would be home in time as she had to leave for work at 03:00."

Ah ok, I misread it. Thanks for clarifying!

I just wonder how he got away from the group.

"Sussex Police said there were no signs the 33-year-old, who had been due to return home in the early hours of Saturday, had left the town."

"Extensive inquiries and searches of CCTV recordings have been carried out to find Mr Knott, from Orpington."

"Volunteers have been helping emergency services with the search, which has included scouring the nearby River Ouse."

Just some comments I found interesting to look at. This is really turning out to be quite sinister in a sense. I don't think it's been that long for the river search to not bring up anything, so that's both good and bad news. And for the police to constrict their looking to the town, is it a big town?

I'm local to this case and sadly I would put money on him being in the river. We had a lot of heavy rain and flooding around this time, with several rivers bursting their banks, and we see it so often with people going out drinking and ending up in the water. Lewes has a river running right through the town. I hope I'm wrong.

It's often the case, but how horrible.

I read something the other year about men after a night out are drawn to the edge of open water to have a pee but then as they've had a few, they topple in. No idea if that is true or not and I certainly hope this man is found soon.

You couldn't do a night shift starting at 3am after drinking all day though, could you? That would be against the rules, surely?

Thanks for clarifying this. Makes more sense

I wish we had more information about the last time somebody saw him. Like, how much had he had to drink, was he completely drunk? How did he or his friends become separated?

Dang it. Another pub crawl story with water near by. GordianKnot is right; the combo seems to always end the same way....tragedy.
Perhaps lady fate will deal a different card this time, but it would be a Xmas miracle indeed.

Regardless, praying for a positive outcome against the odds.

Amateur opinion and speculation

I don’t believe they all fell in peeing. Men can pre pretty much anywhere. Plus I live near a river with high railings all along it yet men are still constantly ending up in it.....
