What a strange disappearance. Why, where and when did he get separated from the group? IMO I don't think we will hear a lot from his colleagues about what happened during that bar crawl. For one it's a very tight knit, family-like group and private things (flirting, cheating for instance -and I don't think he was doing that perse), will stay among them or will be shared on a "need to know" level. For not stirring up things at home and also to protect the reputation of the public service.

According to Elainera's post above he lost contact with the group at 7.30 pm....so did he went alone to the last pub...or did he stay behind in the last pub? Doesn't the bartender recall anything or was it just to busy? It was a work day, not being familiar with going out in the UK...would it be busy?

I know one link was quoting 11 friends but I've found nothing new about a search today or the locations of it. I'm surprised there was no CCTV around the pub. I just hope there's answers soon because a happy ending is unfortunately looking far less likely.

I do find it bizzare, I mean I know it can be busy and maybe people just lost sight of him but I don't know, wouldn't you go looking for him? I don't know, maybe they did and just thought he'd got himself home?

We still not know if he was intoxicated...there must be people who can recall that. Could he have been hit by a car and they (I say they, because a persons body is very heavy passed out or worse) took him and dumped him somewhere, explaining why there wasn't a trace from him leaving the town.

Yeah, that could be a possibility for sure. Definitely when people are drinking near Christmas , it could of been a hit and run. Or something did happen with the water, has that all be checked?
I just wished we had a clearer picture of why and how they lost sight of him.

I don't know..colleagues are not you're best friends....there is some distance I guess, you feel maybe a little less responsible...and it was a big group, also depending on the experiences you had in the past with them..."Oh....he did it again...nothing to worry about....normal pattern" or something like that.

It was a Friday. Weekend approaching, Christmas approaching .... many offices have Christmas parties or dinners or drinks after work in the days before Christmas, so I'd say yes it was probably busy. Many people also out and about for Christmas shopping and might drop in at a pub for a drink or snack or even a meal (many pubs serve food as well although only have a small menu).

I don't have a clear picture about the flooding....I can't image it was something like swirling waters, sucking you up...but I don't know.

I think the flooding is more about if he was taking public transport but then the police had said there's no proof of him leaving town, which is like so where did he go from 7:30?

i think the colleagues and his phone should shed most light on this

they were miles from homes unlikely to bump into people they knew, unless a meet up had been pre arranged

im not sure but my kids (grown up) all talk about these meet up apps etc, they all seem fairly instant. hook ups, etc. they terrify me with the way its talked of, little consideration for personal safety but seems to be the norm now

or yes, an accident covered up. someone would be acting skittish if thats the case

I mean I know we get carried away whilst drinking but he had said he would be back before 2am which when you include travelling, I don't think he would of been so drink at the time he disappeared.

I think his partner means that it's out of character for him not taking his responsibilities....being on time...and just don't show up, because she had to work at around 3 in the night and maybe his children were there also...but I don't know that.

I think if you start early, say 4 O'clock (we don't know when the shift had ended) and have no dinner...alcohol could get a hold on you, especially when you drink occasionally....totally different scenario when you start drinking at 12:30....and what about group pressure....although it's changing...it is still a macho culture....you don't ask for sprite or water JMO

I wrote about that, but you missed it I guess. Yes, they are tight...but that doesn't mean you look for them all the time in a private setting...everybody has an own responsibility....and if everybody was kind of drunk....time and focus is shifting....It's not the preliminary school teacher counting heads..

I am holding out the slightest hope that he got rolled and is laid up in hospital unidentified. I know that doesn't sound like a pleasant alternative, but at least there would be hope. I know that hospitals would likely be ruled out immediately, but I can't help grasp at any shred of possibility.

I know we are all praying for an unlikely, and positive outcome.
