UK - Anthony Parsons, 63, charity cyclist, found deceased, Argyll, Scotland, 29 Sept 2017 *Arrests*

  • #461
We told you last month how specialist officers were digging up the 28,000-acre grounds of Auch Estate, Argyll, around four miles from where the former Royal Navy Officer was last seen at the Bridge of Orchy Hotel.

Police made the grim find during excavation work — almost three and a half years after Tony, then 63, vanished.

Two men, both aged 29, were arrested in connection with Tony's disappearance on a charity bike ride in September 2017.

In a statement on behalf of the Parsons family, his son Mike said: “The last three years have been incredibly hard for us as a family and for all those who knew my Dad.

“We always hoped there would be a positive outcome and have now been left devastated by my Dad's death.

So what were the post mortem findings? Anyone hear anything?

No updates for a while now. You'd think the media would be asking more questions of the police / prosecution service.

I'm starting to think that the police may be struggling to build a case. Normally people are arrested quickly after a post mortem unless the police don't have all the evidence they feel will lead to a prosecution.

I was thinking about Mr Parsons the other day. Glad his family have been able to hold a funeral. I hope the police are able to make a case so the family can also get justice

releasing the body for a funeral signals that the police have finished their investigations on the injuries but if arrests aren't made soon then they must not have anything substantial to go on in terms of building a case against someone.

That they're still searching the A82 makes me think they didn't find the bicycle with the body.

Or maybe they’re looking for evidence of a collision- small glass fragments perhaps from a vehicle indicator/headlight they suspect could be involved. Or bicycle fragments that could retain traces of the vehicle involved. Assuming it was a traffic accident.

Most likey this, although I would have liked to think that they had done this earlier in the investigation.

Is there any update on this case?

Nothing new unfortunately.

Rest in peace, Mr. Parsons.

Wow. RIP.

Been over 4 years now. 10 months since Tony was found. Doesn't seem to be much movement despite the fact he was clearly killed and buried.

Yes, and this is pretty disconcerting. That's an isolated area....how many people could have been in that place at that time (probably at night)? The pool of potential suspects is certainly limited. This doesn't reflect well on the local police.
