Found Safe UK - Antonino Coppola, 23, from Richmond, Surrey, missing from Bow, East London, 16 Sep 2021

I will stand by @Officer Dibbles comment here and back him up. He didn’t say ALL missing men but certainly a huge proportion of missing men are not a priority for the Police unless there are unusual and exceptional circumstances around the disappearance and I speak from experience, so yes, it is true !
Great to see you here @Angleterre I hope you have time to look at this case and possibly shed some light as to why Tower Hamlets, where AC disappeared, haven’t put out any appeals. The family keep saying there are no news and it’s clear this is not a common missing person case. How long before it’s taken more seriously I wonder.

Personally I think it's unlikely he'd be attacked in broad daylight in the middle of the day by a complete stranger and somehow hidden or moved, although I guess stranger things have happened.

It's not unheard of.

I think it is up to his family and friends to develop this and undertake searches.

Sadly, I see little going on, which may be due to language/strange country and unsure of procedure. But given the case is on Missing People, their support workers can advise on furthering the search.

This is an example of proactivity. Vicki Clements missing in Wiltshire since September 22. The search group, set up with Facebook profile, are visible and active in trying to find her.

If the final destination was Bromley-By-Bow tube Station, I'd hazard a guess that AC may have decided to walk to that stop if he was still feeling unwell, to meet his friend. He might have thought that some fresh air would have helped and may have thought his friend carried on without him on the tube.
What happened after that is anyone's guess, but I'm just staggered that there's been nothing on this in the press or any updates from LE.
Do we know where, exactly, they were moving too?

My 26 yr old son lives in B-B-B, he's aware of AC's disappearance, but hasn't seen much publicity about it in the area.

Late on this thread, and yes, too lazy to read 13 pages at half-past midnight, so please be kind.

Re: Desperate hunt for man, 23, who has been missing for four days

"Antonino is said to have gotten off the tube at Bow Road station in search of a bathroom."

The website is My London, but the article uses US "gotten" and "bathroom" - I'm presuming that "Bathroom" is the American euphemism for toilet, lavatory or loo or bog. I wonder if the article was written in a location other than London, in which case the accuracy might be in doubt.

B-B-B is one of the worst served areas of central London for public conveniences, even before Lockdown.

Do we know why his friend did not accompany him? After all his Antonino was apparently suddenly taken ill. And I presume his Richmond residence been checked to see if he returned there, and to verify the witness's statements?

Nope, The reporter lives in Tower Hamlets, should be accurate, so I guess it's just good old Americanisms.

I presume the police checked if he went back to his residence? Do we know what items e.g. passport, that he left there? All the hunt seems to be in East London, but Richmond seems just as likely. If he'd got discombobulated in Bow, lost his bearings, he'd surely go back to base. Maybe he had an accident there and could not respond. It strikes me as a big ol' journey to do for a waiter's job. Spend most of your earnings on fares...

Hi just to catch you up on the thread info so far...He and his friend were moving house and so were travelling with their belongings. When he became unwell his friend waited for him at the platform with their luggage etc. as his friend was not familiar with london and needed him to navigate the rest of the journey but he never returned. CCTV shows him throwing up as he leaves the station (he turns right) then disappears after this.

*someone please correct me if I'm wrong on any of these details.

Thank you, that's a nice synopsis - I wasn't finding the press articles very helpful. Quite a mystery until we have further info. Did he have money, passport with him, or in his luggage?

I believe he took his phone with him but left everything else with his friend. Really is an unusual disappearance.

* edited to add he also had a backpack with him

I thought he had a backpack with him, so wouldn't his documents be in that?

Bow, just-after-lunch, on the face of it, not an optimal abduction place. Personally, I think it likely that for some reason (The illness?) Antonio has become confused and has returned to somewhere familiar to him in his past, but you're right , it's an unusual mystery.

Oh yes he did. Thank you for reminding me. I'll edit my post. Do we definitely know what he had in the back pack?

Not a pleasant thought, but vomiting is a sometimes a precursor to a stroke. A minor stroke might account for some of the peculiarities of this disappearance.

And if he has got his passport, with some kind of partial amnesia, he might be back in Italy.

But having told his friend to "wait" on the platform with the bags that wouldn't fit IMO. Obviously we don't how many bags but moving house by train must mean some big or numerous bags even if you don't own much more than clothes.

I've found an article from Thursday last week which mentions what he had with him (it is a translation by Google) parts bolded by me -Antonino Coppola 23enne scomparso a Londra/ L’amico “vomitava, uscito dalla metro e…”

"The day of the disappearance he was with his friend Ciro, his fellow citizen. The two lived together and on the day of the disappearance they would have had to change homes."

Ciro's words (and it's explained that Ciro watched the CCTV)-

“It makes me ... don't come with me wait for me here otherwise you have to bring your suitcases. I waited near the tracks then after half an hour I got worried and went out with all the luggage ” .

"in the first camera where we were able to see, Antonino can be seen vomiting, raises his head , he walks and turns behind, it is as if he was turning his face for fear that people had seen him throwing up. But then why not go back to the station after throwing up? " .

"From the cameras you can see that he has his backpack on his shoulders with his mobile phone, documents and wallet inside. He may have lost it and no longer have the documents with him. Or taking advantage of his malaise he was robbed and the attackers hurt him?"

Good point. We've also discussed if it was not just vomit but also diarhorrea and needing to do it in private and I put up posts saying where I thought he might have gone to 'take his trousers down' for the toilet in public (as there weren't many places available with a toilet) - then should he have fallen ill with say Appendix situation -he's the right age - or your suggestion a stroke - the area I mentioned and showed with maps would need to be searched - OR - there were buildings with CCTV outside of that could be checked to see if he went past or not). Someone else has pointed out an area that needs searching. There is of course the possibility that something was going on. Were they officially moving house? Were they moving something else in their baggage? <modsnip> and for whatever reason AC needed to get away but felt genuinely sick with anxiety for situation (being chased, having to escape the friend, having received a message or call to say someone is after him for instance). Maybe he and his friend Ciro were not getting on well and he wanted to escape for whatever reason, good or bad. So many unknowns but if someone would check the local CCTV , Ring doorbells and dash cam before its too late it will give clues where he went and what was going on. Also we've no idea if he pretended to vomit and something came out or he genuinely vomited. If he vomitied was it tested for drugs or alcohol or poisioning etc? JMO MOO
