Good morning (afternoon!) all. I pray she's found, safe and sound and soon today.

I don't know why, but for some reason I'm getting the feeling this was a "here little girl, I have candy!" or "can you help me find my lost dog?" or "I'll take you home to your parents." stranger abduction that you see played out in movies.

I strongly feel the family was not involved, nor was it anyone they know. I'm leaning towards a stranger abduction, which is scary.

Praying for you, sweet April.

We call planned groups of houses 'estates'. My Scottish OH would call them 'schemes'. This is a Local Authority built estate, therefore would be known as a 'council estate', with the houses built for the express purpose that they are rented to the residents, who in turn would have to apply to live there.

Over the past 20-30 years, many of these 'council houses' have been sold off to private owners - usually the residents who had lived there for a qualifying number of years.

Just to confuse matters, we would also call a private mansion an estate, the property and land left by a deceased person (even if it is just a garden shed), an estate, and a car very similar to your station wagon would also be called an estate :)

We clearly like to keep folk confused, including ourselves :)

I never realised until now how confusing we actually are

The word 'scheme' there has a much different connotation than it does here as well.

Did we know the vehicle "could have been a left-hand drive"? Catching up on liveblogs.

Yes, we had discussed this. All cars made for the British market are right hand drive. All cars made for the European market are left hand drive, hence we were discussing the possibility of it being a vehicle more commonly found on the continent. We have an increasing number of migrants, particularly from Eastern Europe, and also tourists. It is not uncommon to see foreign registered, left hand drive vehicles on the roads.
