The arrest came about because Police knew he was in the area and they were keen to trace him. Also has a similar vehicle which was seen near to where April disappeared. This from Det. Bevan. He was arrested on foot a few miles outside the town. They have recovered his vehicle which was found in a different area.

Just heard on Sky News.
They knew he was in the area, and had a similar van.
He was on foot when they found him.
He's Local.
But no sign of April.
And they were looking for him since last night.
Sounds to me like he was on the sex offender registry already JMO.

Yeah I agree sounds like they knew exactly who they were after

They said they had been pursuing several lines of enquiries (standard British copper's line - they learn it the first day of training). It sounds as though they knew exactly who they wanted from the get go - probably on the sex offender's register, known to have a similar vehicle.

This is why they arranged the local searchers.

Now to find dear April alive. Please.

Really surprised how quick LE were able to arrest someone,good work on their part!

I said there was a lot of activity by the river - they have shown an overhead of the van parked right near the bridge, just on the edge of town. It looks like a Ford Connect.

They were showing coppers on the riverbank and leaning over the bridge, looking down into the very fast flowing river.

I was watching Sky News and they were filming from the helicopter above the village. They zoomed in on a few police vans and a white van. This was over 30 minutes ago (before the press conference regarding the arrest)

Looks like this was the van, parked down a country lane near the river.

It's around 22 hours from abduction right now - 17:18 in the UK just now.

Thank you amber, I learned of April last night about 7 hours after abduction, word has spread very fast across the globe, social media is our biggest weapon to counter these evil people, and I am thankful for that

I think more likely they can't just say no because this guy was probably a friendly aquaintence and police may not have figured out all they dynamics yet.
In an open investigation they have to be careful what is released and when something is released.
This guy may not live alone, he could of bad an accomplice or someone that knows something
