Please don't tell me this is another Joanna Yeates.

The police arresting someone with maximum fanfare only to release him a couple of days later as the wrong guy...oops.

Well, the fanfare is from the media not LE!

Hi all, first time poster, so please be gentle with me :)

If MB was in Machynlleth for parents evening on the Monday, then it puts him in the village that day and around that time. For a man who has barely a relationship with eldest son, why would he be attending a parents evening? It seems contradictory somehow. Also on another press article, cannot remember which, there was someone that said they didn't know him to speak to but he caught the same bus. For a man with a vehicle he seems to do a fair bit of walking/public transport. I'm not sure about this case, it seems so odd and his arrest does not sit right with me. AJ's parents were quick to give his name. I have to ask myself why...
It appears that the welcoming committee isn't around so.......

:welcome: to WS!!

Can you see the silver Landrover in the links? I'm rubbish with computers. The links I first posted wre incorrect and just showed a map of the town. Take a look again, if that is all you saw.

Yes, I saw them. It appears to be parked directly behind AJ's house.

Amber, do you know if the initial kids description of a silver/grey Landrover were dismissed, or just misreported. Also, what was the other left hand drive vehicle on the estate that was talked about?

No, I didn't know it was behind AJ's house either. I don't know where MB lived at all, apart from the rural white cottage shown in a photo on the Daily Mail site.

Did he have his own house there, or did he just have women that he stayed with?

I still don't understand the significance of the white van that police had pulled on the main road leading to MB's new residence. If he was walking the road or riverbank, why that parked van? I also believe that any child in describing the blue Landy would maybe describe the distinctive side stripe design unless that wasn't the vehicle used. Too many question marks I'm afraid.
Thanks BTW for the welcome :)

They were neither dismissed nor misreported. During one of the press conferences they mentioned a white transit Connect and a light coloured Landrover and the copper said the vehicle was something like a Defender 90. Can you identify what model that is?

Here's the post with the pic Sky released. http://websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?p=8410257&highlight=defender#post8410257

Edited: I don't know whether they showed pictures of the vehicles or just mentioned them

Oh, I don't think my find is likely to be significant then. The Defender 90 is the bigger classic box shaped landrover. The Discovery model that is shown in the Streetview images is very different. If they are sure it's a Defender 90, then this vehicle is unlikely to be of interest.

Daily Mirror just published:

"Two women claim they spotted a man carrying a bin bag to a river the day after April Jones was snatched.

They told police he scrambled down a bank not far from where the five-year-old vanished.

As officers yesterday searched the River Dyfi close to Machynlleth, Powys, one of the women, Carwen Sheen, 36, said: “I’ve told the police what I saw. It’s up to them now.”

She had been standing by a road chatting with a friend on Tuesday when the man appeared with the black bag.

He was said to have been acting suspiciously.

The dad of one of the witnesses said last night: “My daughter and a friend saw a man, they know him well."

Why would he walk right past two women he knew, and put a body in the river with them standing there?

They found the Connect just a short way from where MB was arrested, along the same road. I don't think we've heard a thing about it since, which I find quite confusing.

I personally would have gone and looked for the bag...general rubbish usually gets tossed on the edge of riverbanks, walkways etc

Perhaps the ladies were on the other side of the river

I wonder if the Esgaireira reservoir has been searched thoroughly? I also noticed that on Google maps. It lies about 2.5 miles North of North-West from the town.

It looks very isolated up there, with no buildings around at all. Plenty of privacy, fairly easy access quickly, in and out, and a place to dump a body, if that is what happened.

You can see it with this link: https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=machynlleth+map&hl=en&ll=52.62489,-3.807621&spn=0.003478,0.009645&safe=off&hnear=Machynlleth,+Powys,+United+Kingdom&gl=uk&t=h&z=17

The fact that the car color was not right makes me think even more that LE has more reasons to hold this man.

Also, if it is true that two women saw a man with a bag, etc...they may be one of the 2500 who called in a tip and told the media about it, as maybe they had not been contacted yet by LE. Who knows?

Why would the car color not being right give u more reason to think LE has more reason to hold MB?
Oh! Do you mean additional reasons?

  • #198
Maybe he didn't. We don't have any witness saying April got into his blue car that evening. Just one witness saying she got into a white or light grey van.

What colour is this ex girlfriends van or vehicle? The one that had the child that reported April got into a van...

No,I meant that when even the car did match what the child witness said, they still seemed to feel they had reason to take him in, and get an extension to hold him, so I think there is more than just the child's words as possible evidence.

That's what I thought you meant (once I kept reading what you wrote)
Do we know if he is admitting to picking her up?
If he does, do we know where he says he took her and why?
