They were doing that near Mount Pleasant as far back as Thursday 4th. See 15:36 in the link.

Also this sounds like they were places searched in general

After several searches, including fields, rivers and manholes, the community were asked to step down and allow emergency services to focus their hunt using state-of-the-art equipment.

I meant dated as in old.

Oh sorry, I misread it. I was thinking of google earth and viewing a place by date and wondered if it could also be time set which which might show up cars around at the time. Doesnt UK have satellite images? Dont know much about how clear they are. Just a thought.

I'm just thinking out loud here but a few things stand out in my mind.
I own an imported jeep as it was 10k cheaper than here in the UK.
Secondly Mb has a 2 door discovery! I have a 4 yr old who is big for his age wears 6 yr old clothes and cannot climb or hop into my jeep. He needs to be lifted and put in his car seat then strapped in. He certainly could not reach the handle to open door let himself in then close the door! Also in a 2 door u need to pull the passenger seat forward to allow people in the back. MB is a parent any adult knows u will be stopped by police if child is not in car seat and strapped securely. So why did no one see him do this? Or why would he speed briskly towards town centre when the risk of being stopped is higher?

I doubt that an abductor would take the time to worry about buckling her into a car seat. As long as she is sitting in the seat, it would be hard for police to tell from the outside of the car whether she was buckled or not.

My five year old can buckle herself into her car seat. Not sure if April would be able to since she had cerebral palsy though.

Some of those Google earth pics are quite old, but I read in another forum here (Jill Meagher) someone said there is a way you can find out when the photos were taken.

Agree, the last thing abductor would think is about a car seat or seat belt.

Photo of April on her bike showed her as pretty flexible, though I did read she had some trouble with her fingers.

It looks like it's possible to get from the estate to Mount Pleasant Cottage avoiding the use of the A487 entirely.

It's certainly possible, but after leaving the B4404 the road is un-tarmaced and narrow - little better than a farm track in places, with large stones embedded in the soil. It could have been tricky if the Ford Discovery was already having mechanical problems.

On the other hand, it could have been the cause of those problems, of course.

Would a local be able to confirm if that's the case?

I'm not local, but we've holidayed in the immediate area many times, so I know it quite well.

The choices on leaving the estate are west (into town) or east (into the countryside). You can get to Ceinws (which is north of the estate, on the other side of the River Dyfi) either way. The obvious and much shorter route is through the town centre and across the Dyfi bridge, but the much longer ("back") way would carry far less risk of being seen by either people or CCTV.

Thanks to you and the others on here with local knowledge. There is only so much we can tell from maps, there is no substitute for your contributions. :-)

If you do a street view in google maps it shows the image date at the bottom of the screen. Month and year.

I don't know how to do that, but I just took a screenshot of the 3rd set of garages on that small estate. What is the car on the left?

This is from 4 Oct so may have been posted but it's interesting, only read it last night.

The village of Ceinws is home to about 80 mostly-retired residents who have come in search of a “quiet life”.
....
Vivian Williams Jones, 68, a long-time resident, said the farmhouse, called Mount Pleasant, had been empty for several years before Mr Bridger took it.

He said he knew he had moved to the house about one month ago because the owner came down to rent it out.

“It used to belong to a sailor called Nelson who lived there for years with his mother.

“It was eventually sold to someone from London who bought it as a holiday home and never came down here.

“I saw him about a month ago and he said that it was just too far for him and he was giving it the once-over before renting it out.

“I can’t say I’d ever seen him [Mr Bridger], apart from moving about inside.

“Although it’s a very quiet village, there’s not much that happens that people don’t know about. It’s that kind of place.”

Friend and villager Carl Utteridge, 76, said he had spoken briefly with Mr Bridger when they were both waiting for a bus several weeks ago.

“He was living here and waiting for a bus into Machynlleth but we didn’t say much. He had only been living here about a month and we only spoke the once. Didn’t say much.”

And for Google Earth, click the historical timeline icon at the top of the screen - the icon that looks like a clock. That brings up a slider. Looks like Google Earth photos of the estate were taken in June 2009.

Why would he need to take the bus if he allegedly has a car and van to use?

Could have been going into Mach for a drink or two and didn't want to drive home? Just an example.

Thinking about the two recycling tubs seen at his house, and that he'd lived there 2 weeks, he might be partial to one or two. (Unless he had a lot of parties)

Is that common? This means that MB is not the only one who has a left hand drive vehicle on this estate?
