Yes have diagram here to work out complicated relationships. I struggle to believe MB not known to family. PJ has two children with KG. EG (now ED and KG's sister) has two children with MB. Then PJ has April with CJ. PJ and MB were in relationships and had children from sisters KG and EG respectively.

Please someone correct me if wrong but these kids knew one another and knew MB Imo

I remember at the time of the crime it was reported that April had been for a drive in MB's vehicle before. I've not heard anything about that since, so was that untrue?

This was reported in the Mirror. The name of the informant crops up again in the case  .... Note, though, that none of this seems to be first-hand information.

Mum-of-two Vicky Fenner told how the two close friends had been playing together when the kidnapper struck.

The 25-year-old added: “The two girls went out together and we’ve been told by the seven-year-old that April got into a vehicle parked behind the garages.

"It was wet and cold and the other girl told April not to get into it. But April said: ‘It’s all right, I know them’.

“I think the girl was the only person who was with April. She is the last person to see her.

“I was told April was in the same vehicle two or three days ago. On that occasion three children got into the vehicle but one girl is denying it.”

From live updates: [x]

Jurors will listen to more transcripts of the interviews Mark Bridger gave to police in the days after his arrest for abducting April today.

The 13th day of the trial, which is due to start at 9.30am and finish at 1pm, is expected to hear more of the 47-year-old's account of what happened on October 1 last year. The reading of the interviews is not expected to finish until at least Monday. Yesterday, the jury were told there were more than 200 pages to be read.

Proceedings are now underway.

Paul Hobson QC, prosecuting in place of Elwen Evans QC, is continuing by reading Bridger's second interview with Detective Constable Louise Thomas. In the interview, which was carried out on October 3, DC Thomas was solely concerned with the welfare and whereabouts of April.

Bridger told the detective how, after he woke up in his Ceinws house in the early hours of October 2 not knowing where April was, he spoke to his dog about the situation. "I know it sounds stupid," he said.

<modsnip>

Before adjourning the day's proceeding Judge John Griffith-Williams warned jurors not to discuss the case with anyone during the weekend. "Do not make any queries, do not speak to anyone and do not let anyone speak to you," he said.

The trial has now finished for the day and will resume at 11am on Monday.

MB: "for some reason I never thought of dialling 999."

He just gets more and more unbelievable.

Yes and the next sentence is so bizarre too:

Bridger also told how he drove towards a house which was once owned by a paramedic who has since died. "If the gates had been open it would've been a safe place where I could lay her down," he said.

So that the dead paramedic could do what exactly?

  • #888
Didnt think to call 999, didnt take her to a hospital full of doctors even if there was no a and e dept, He was probably drunk and didnt want to be done for it causing a death even accidentally, and even when he wasnt driving at the time, had he done he would have got a max of 14 years, thats if theres any basis for his story of what happened. Also if she died whilst in his car, why not take her to hospital anyway instead of hiding her somewhere. Tragic.

I find it believable, though it may, of course, be a lie. Panic can do strange things to memory, perception and behaviour.

  • #890
I think he's lying about eveything. I wouldn't believe anything he said. He lied about being in the army too. I think he's a fantasist.

I don't have the statistics to hand, but when Casey Anthony was on trial I remember someone quoting a study that showed the chances of someone not calling emergency services after an accident involving a child were practically negligible...

  • #892
He definitely is a fantasist and add to that that he's an alcoholic and depressed. He does not function rationally and normal. We might never be sure whether he lied or not and what really happened that night. Wish they would find her remains that might tell something.

I understand this to mean that the paramedic was alive on that night. So why not just stop the car and go and knock on the door? Doesn't make sense.

He searched online for naked 5 year old girls, he went out that day looking for young girls to invite to a 'sleepover'. The idea that he just so happened to run over a 5 year old (how damn convenient!) is laughable IMO.

I'm sure he made sure there was barely anything left of her to find and chucked the remains in the river.

LE found no evidence to support Bridger's story that he ran her over but it is likely that the defence will challenge LE for not having looked hard enough. However, accidentally killing her is not incompatible with an intention to abuse her. He could be mixing truth with lies/fantasy.

  • #896
When asked by the officers to describe the moment he allegedly lifted April into his car Bridger told how the first thing he did was look for injuries. "I remember there was no blood," he said.

How convenient. That would explain why they didn't find any on his car then. Different story at his house though, wasn't it?

  • #897
In between following the trial I have been trying to find out some more information about MB's children. It has been reported on several occasions that he had at least four children but I only realised today that he has two daughters at the school. I am presuming one of them is the 9 year old from his relationship with EG but who is the other and how old is she? It also been suggested by a neighbour of CJ's that MB had young daughters who frequently played with April. So which daughter did he go to parents evening about and could the other one be in the same class as April?

To be fair, the local "community hospital" is simply a GP practice with minor injuries unit, that closes at 6pm. The nearest available doctors would have been 45 minutes away, in Aberystwyth. But there is no reason why he shouldn't have called 999 for an ambulance, if he wasn't fit to drive that far.

Yes, I have been thinking that his counsel will probably have advised that he doesn't take the stand himself, as there is no knowing what he might start inventing if questioned by the prosecution.

He has two children* with EG, can't remember their ages. Plus two sons from an earlier relationship. I think that's all that's been confirmed.

* I thought it was two girls, but it may be a boy and a girl. There's a link somewhere to a newspaper article that shows a sort of family tree.

Found it, it does seem to be a boy and a girl according to this.
