He is SUCH a liar. I don't get how he thinks lying about everything will do him any favours.

  • #962
Sorry to harp back to his children but we know the two with EG are 11 and 13, aren't they a little big to have to be 'lifted' into his car and to use wipes on? Hence my interest in the ages of the other two..

Probably refers to VF's children, who may be younger.

So, if he is claiming that chicken was cooked in the stove, the implication being that the bones are chicken bones.......are his children going to be called to give evidence to this effect ?
and which children is he referring to I wonder ?
EG/ ED's two children are 13 and 11, so old enough to remember such info surely....

or are they his two other children ? and are these two younger ?

  • #967
I won't be here for the afternoon session, but I'll edit the live updates into my Pastebin post when I get back and I'll post the Tweets here too if nobody else has. (Check @NewsAndyD, @stevenmorris20, @DarrenLittleSky, @skynewsnorth, @evansma, and @JerryLawton at Twitter for the best updates!)

We've now been told officially that he has six children with four women.

One son born before he moved to Wales, mother unnamed.
Two sons with JW
Two children (boy & girl) with EG

One child and its mother unaccounted for so far.

  • #969
Thanks for that Cherwell - so that would mean the 2 children he spent time with over that week end should be EG ( ED) children, old enough certainly to give evidence to back up his story

One child and its mother unaccounted for so far.

2.42pm today:

When asked about his relationship with Leslie Grimwood, who Bridger exchanged text messages with on the day April went missing, the 47-year-old told the court she was a close friend.

He said that when they were younger he and Ms Grimwood had an on-off relationship and that they had lost a child together.

  • #971
He said that when they were younger he and Ms Grimwood had an on-off relationship and that they had lost a child together.

That's ambiguous. I would assume that he meant a miscarriage.

This is rather too vague as well:

2.38pm: Explaining why he looked at a picture of another girl, Bridger said it was because he thought she could be his daughter. He told jurors how he had once been painting a house with the girl's mother when they "ended up on the bed together".

4.32pm
The trial has now finished for the day.

Proceedings will resume at 10am tomorrow.

4.32pm
Ms Evans put to Bridger that he "weaves a*complex web of lies" about his military past.

The 47-year-old admitted his lies "could not have been good" as most people did not believe him.

4.27pm
Bridger defended the lies he told to police.

"You have to remember I am an alcoholic who hadn't had a drink for a number of days," he said.

4.20pm
Bridger has admitted to the jury that he "lied about the military" during his police interviews.

He agreed with Ms Evans that the details of how he trained in places like Namibia, Afghanistan and Cuba were all lies.

"My military past is a lies," he said.

4.20pm
Ms Evans quizzed the accused about why he kept up the "fantasy" of being in the military even when being questioned by detectives following his arrest for the murder of April.

And Bridger confirmed he had "fabricated" a number of stories about his past.

4.13pm
Bridger has just admitted to the court that he created a "fantasy" about being in the army.

He told jurors he lied to people when he moved to Machynlleth in 1989 or 1990 because he did not want people to know his background - including that he had convictions, that he lost a child and that he had fallen out with his parents.

"I didn't want people to know where I was from, I didn't want people to know my business," he said.

4.05pm
The image was of a cartoon representation of a*young child being restrained and sexually abused.

After*Ms Evans asked him why he had viewed the picture, Bridger said he did not believe*it was for "any*gratification or any sexual purpose".

3.58pm
Ms Evans has asked Bridger to look at an image he viewed at 12.11pm "on the day April was abducted by you".

After Bridger took exception to being accused of abducting April, Ms Evans "agreed" to use the "neutral" phrase of "the day she left *Bryn y Gog in your car".

3.49pm
"What did you do with April's body?" Ms Evans asked.

Again, Bridger responded by saying: " I don't know."

3.48pm
The first question Ms Evans asked the man accused of murdering April was "Where is April?"

In response, Bridger said: "I don't know, I really don't know."

3.45pm
Elwen Evans QC is now cross-examining Bridger.

3.44pm
Bridger wiped his eyes with a tissue as he answered the questions.

3.34pm
Mr Kelly has just asked his client: "Mr Bridger did you abduct April Jones on the Bryn Y Gog estate?"

To which he replied: "No. No.*I had no intention of abducting April Jones."

His barrister then asked: "Did you have any kind of sexual contact with April Jones that night?"

In response, Bridger said: "No,*none at all."

And, concluding his questioning, Mr Kelly asked:
"Did you deliberately kill*April Jones that night?"

Bridger said: "No I didn't."

3.34pm
Bridger told the jury he thought he would be arrested for causing death by reckless or*dangerous driving.

"I didn't expect to be on a murder charge," he said.

3.33pm
Mr Kelly has quizzed Bridger about the exchange of texts he had with his former partner Elaine ap Dafydd.

In response, his client told how after receiving a message from Mrs ap Dafydd informing him police were looking for a left-hand drive car, he was essentially waiting to be arrested.

"I didn't know what to do, I*obviously was involved, I didn't ever deny being involved in April's death."

He added: "I didn't run, I didn't hide, I didn't go anywhere."

3.25pm
Mr Kelly then told Bridger the prosecution had suggested part of a human skeleton could have been burnt in his log burner.

In response, Bridger said: "I do not believe I could do that."

3.22pm
"I don't remember any clean-up," Bridger said

"But what I'd like to say is if, that night, there was blood, drips of blood in the bath where I washed my jumper, if I had seen it I would automatically have wiped it, not to hide it, it would've been an automatic thing to do.

"Bridger had earlier told jurors he remembered taking a beige fleece off before rinsing it in the bath after returning home on the night of October 1.

3.20pm
Speaking about what happened next, Bridger told the jury*how he*remembers driving out of Machynlleth but that he does*not remember April being in his car.

3.17pm
He then described how the next thing he remembers is waking up in the early hours of October 2.

"I really thought it was a nightmare or a dream," he said.

"Then I realised it wasn't a dream, there is something to this.

"I don't remember exactly what I did, I remember putting some of the clothes I had taken off back on and went outside to search for the little girl."

3.14pm
"I have no recollection of getting to the house," Bridger said.

"I have no recollection of taking April into the house.

"The only other collection I have is having April in my*arms and laying her down on the carpet."

The 'missing' child is interesting. If it was a child who was born and then died I would expect that would have been explained as part of the family breakdown by Defence counsel.
Also think that #6 child isn't this girl who 'could be his daughter'.:twocents:

Cross examination about to start. Let's see what Ms Evans does with him.

Just when you think you've heard it all.... incredible.
Wish I could be in Mold Crown Court to see his demeanour.

We've now been told officially that he has six children with four women.

One son born before he moved to Wales, mother unnamed.
Two sons with JW
Two children (boy & girl) with EG

One child and its mother unaccounted for so far.

Eldest son - born about 1985. Mother named - 'KR'.
Following article edited by me, and names changed to initials.

COURT TOLD ABOUT BRIDGER'S LOVE LIFE AND CHILDREN
Mark Bridger's QC Brendan Kelly took the court through the accused's personal life, which produced six children from four different mothers.

Mr Kelly began with a three or four year relationship with a woman called K.. R...., with whom he had a son. He was working at a timeshare estate as a barman, chef and waiter, before meeting a new partner.

'I met a young lady I was working with and within three months we were married,' Bridger told the jury. The woman was JW and they lived in mid Wales and also in Wrexham and Chirk.
Bridger had two sons from that relationship, now aged 21 and 23, and is still in contact with one of them, he said.
Bridger then broke up with Ms W but stayed in the Machynlleth area, working as a car recovery mechanic and in a forestry job and began a relationship with a woman called V B.
That lasted for two or three years but there were no children until Bridger met E G in 1996.
'It was a group of lads, we all hung about together, we all got on and would meet up with groups of girls from different villages and go out dancing,' Bridger said.
E had a sister, K, who at that time was in a relationship with a man he knew as Paul - the father of AJ

why did the prosecution as him if he had put a skeleton into the fire?

  • #979
i just did a long post and lost it

i was saying he remembers laying her on the carpet or on A carpet, accorsinf to a different tweet, but woke up 3 am and started drinking cider and thinking it was a nightmare

So he was blacked out between laying her on the carpet and waking up. and cant remember.

I dont think he cut up her body and burnt her, I think he got rid of her somewhere else

he also says he started drinking at 3am on the 2nd oct and by 9.30 am that morning he was so drunk he couldnt stand...then how, if alcohol takes 24 hours go leave the system, did tests taken at 9pm on the 2nd reveal nothing? Confused.
