If this guy were a well respected celebrity or person of means, I think he would get a lesser sentence, but given...
his history of threatening a police officer with a machete in 2004 during a domestic incident,
his exposed lies/fabrications about being in the armed forces (an insult to those who serve),
his recollections, amongst seemingly selective amnesia, accounting for blood in the bathroom due to washing his jumper, blood on the rug due to remembering laying her down, dna on his genitals due to taking a pee, even saying he had been foraging for mushrooms in case dirt was found under his nails, IMO,
... I think he will be found guilty as charged.
The LE don't look lightly on cases where violence is threatened against their own officers. It must have been very frustrating for the LE being quite certain he did it, yet not managing the find he body and absolutely nail it on him. No wonder they were determined to keep searching. What this guy has cost the taxpayer.... :/
The one thing that does surprise me, given that I absolutely do NOT believe MB's account at all, is that there is no sign of the girl inside his vehicle. No blood, no fingerprints, no cadaverine mentioned (I still wonder if cadaver and blood dogs were involved), no sign of a moving child in the car on the CCTV footage that evening. She may have been wearing gloves of course, as the weather was dreary, which might account for no fingerprints. The only thing that I can think of that would account for her not moving around in the vehicle and being seen in cctv footage, and there being no sign of a struggle in the vehicle, is that she was told to lie down as a prank - something like I'll drive you around to your mum at the parents evening and you can surprise her, or if MB's dog was on board and she played with it in the back.
The morning of the 2nd October all of town was surely texting and gossiping about the left hand drive info just released and who they KNEW to be the likely culprit given that description of the vehicle, so why do we see helicopter footage of MB leaving his house to walk his dog whilst smoke rose from his chimney, yet no police intercepted him at that time. Was it coincidence that he was captured on helicopter footage or did the LE suspect him and venture out to Ceinws to look for him. Had they entered his house at that time the evidence from the wood burner stove might have been more conclusive.
