It can also be revealed that the fragments of bone found in Bridger's fireplace and in his bath plughole – confirmed to be April's remains – will be returned to her family so they can bury them if they wish. The family has made it clear to police that they would like to see Bridger's cottage demolished.

I wonder who owns the cottage? Surely he was renting it. It looks old, how old must it be? Would it have any historic value? Not that I blame the parents, I'd want it torn down too.

It's possible that he could get a full life tariff. Meaning no parole ever.

Only if new evidence emerged or evidence was withheld from the jury that could cast doubt on their verdict.

As he has admitted no guilt I think it will be an indefinite life tariff and he will not be considered for any parole anyway unless he admits guilt.

30 years minimum.

Cottages like that are ten a penny in that part of the world. You see them literally everywhere, so no big deal historically. However, as you say it has some value to the owner.

As for anyone wondering about Bridger's sentence. He'll never see the light of day again. Our justice system is notoriously lax in some areas but not child killers. He'll die inside.

Not a hope in hell. There are no grounds for him to appeal. They'll lock him up and throw away the key.

That was very quick indeed - sounds like the jury were in full agreement and had no doubts whatsoever that he was guilty. I bet they could have come back with the verdict in five minutes.

he can appeal, as he is still claiming he is innocent of her murder and her death was the result of a tragic car accident according to him

That's not grounds for appeal .. unless new evidence comes to light. He's been tried and found guilty using that defence. He doesn't automatically qualify for an appeal just because he sticks to the same story. He can claim he's innocent until he's blue in the face.

Thats exactly what I was wondering.
And the fact that the evidence presented was not solid!
But I dont know if he can still do that, as now it was reported that he admitted to a priest putting Aprils body into the river...
