I wish there wasn't an unknown character for the cash amount. I'm assuming it's '£' but it's possible it could be a different currency, and that would put a totally different spin on the circumstances of the UID.

The Arsenal tag is interesting too - the Gunners had just won the top flight title in the 1988-89 season! That was 6 months before the UID's discovery but perhaps he had been attending a local game. The original Maidstone United team would have been located not too far from Aylesford in Dartford.

In the opposite direction, it's possible he entered the water in actual Maidstone itself, and drifted down to Aylesford.
