Peter Fox was arrested in London this morning in connection with the murder of his mum Bernadette and sister Sarah Fox

Merseyside Police said the 26-year-old was arrested by British Transport Police at Euston Station at 7.50am today following a report from a member of the public.

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Rooney, said: “I can confirm that a 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the murders of Bernadette and Sarah Fox this morning and is being brought back to Merseyside.

“A significant amount of work has been carried out throughout the weekend with the Metropolitan Police and British Transport Police and I would like to thank them for their assistance.

Peter Fox, 27, admitted the manslaughter of Bernadette Fox, 57, and Sarah Fox, 27, at their homes in Bootle on the grounds of “diminished responsibility”.

He was today jailed for life, with a minimum of 12 years and two months of mental health treatment, before he is considered for parole.

But his family say the brutal attacks on April 15 last year were “not the act of someone who didn’t know what they were doing”.

And they revealed Fox sent them a letter from Ashworth secure hospital “laughing and joking” while protesting his innocence.
