I would imagine that their relationship is over now. I expect the Maxine Carr defence of he's a monster and she didn't know what he'd done. He coerced her into the lie.

Ill never forget the soham murders near me bless them too girls. I think she done much more than mazine carr though but her defence will be he made her do something. I think she made him do something to bee will all find out soon. I just hope they find the girl in one peace and give her a propper burial. Bless her.

That is taking it to a whole new level, from her just colluding with him and covering up to being the prime instigator.

I appreciate we don't know the family dynamics, but that seems even more outlandish.

Do you think more will come out at trial, because currently her charges are less than his?

SaW's pleaded guilty to two counts of perverting the course of justice and not guilty to two further charges of perverting the course of justice. The maximum sentence for the two she's admitted is a life sentence, so pretty serious. Serious enough for remanding in prison for 9 months.

The prosecution can amend the charges during a trial to lesser charges but not sure if they can increase the charge without starting a new trial. There will be other more knowledgeable sleuths on here re court proceedings.

Do they do deals in English courts like they do in America?

She is not going to get a life sentence; highly unlikely unless she is found guilty of murder.

Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) sentencing guidelines recommend a prison sentence for this crime of between four and 36 months.

Allowing too for time already in jail, plus likely to be more lenient if her defence alleges she was coerced by an abusive partner.

I didn't say she would get life. I said the maximum sentence for the charge is life, which it is. Maxine Carr got 42 months for admitting 1 count of essentially the same charge that SaW has pleaded guilty to 2 counts of. I would expect something similar running concurrently. So the ultimate length will be determined by the 2 further charges that she has denied and whether the prosecution can prove their case. And, of course, time on remand will be deducted.

We all know she is probably going to use the ‘battered girlfriend’ excuse at the trial

"Use the 'battered girlfriend' excuse"? I read and reread this and I can't get past it. I find this turn of phrase uncomfortable. It's reminiscent of the accusation of 'playing the race card' and others of that type.

In relative terms, women are only just starting to be heard when it comes to how the courts view crimes connected to coercive control, gaslighting, domestic violence and manipulation. To eyerolling-ly refer to 'the 'battered girlfriend' excuse' sounds horribly reductive and all shades of wrong to me.

I am sorry you are offended however, I am just speaking about one woman, not all women. Just to clarify! One woman who lied and covered up the death of her Daughter that is, Sarah Walker. A Mother that failed her Daughter and all of her other children. A woman that is in prison for lying and who has admitted lying. Just wanted to clear that up.

I'm not offended at all. I'm aware of why SW is awaiting trial - her apparent actions are chilling. However, I was making a wider point as we await details of what happened with this pair. I do think language around emotive subjects matters. Like I said, women are finally being heard on the reality of coercive control or similar. It can be a horrible, corrosive, violent and deadly means of manipulation and I wanted to make the point that calling it 'the battered girlfriend excuse' is reductive and I found it an uncomfortable phrase.

I'm pretty sure we're all on this thread hoping that justice is served and the truth emerges around whatever happened to poor Bernadette.

I expect that a domestic abuse defence will be attributed to the two guilty pleas by way of mitigation. I can't see how else she could mitigate them. That's not to say that this is not genuine mitigation. It may come out that she was 🤬🤬🤬🤬 scared of him and only went along with the lie to protect her younger children, having accepted that Bee had run away. She had doubts but not enough to go up against him. I don't believe she had anything to do with killing her daughter. I think the accused killed her, that it was a combination of control, sex and rage, and he buried her somewhere off the A16. The longer her body is not discovered the less the forensic evidence. I've often thought that Bee might have been pregnant by him and, in his mind, that knowledge was worse than killing her. How could he explain that to his family? If her body is never found, the fetus will never have existed.

I have no idea why, presumably US admins, turn S.H.I.T. into ****. It's an Old English word that we all use every day. There's no such thing as bad words, only the bad use of words.

Again I’m talking about ONE woman not ALL women!
