An abandoned car on the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge has sparked an urgent appeal to trace a 47-year-old woman.

Police are looking for Caroline Newman, 47, from Berkeley, Gloucestershire, after her car was found on the bridge across the River Severn in the early hours of Monday morning (September 6).

Officers are asking for anyone who was travelling on the M4 motorway over the bridge between 10.20pm on Sunday (September 5) and 2.40am on Monday to come forward if they have any information which may help the search.

The car that was abandoned was a silver Mitsubishi Shogun, registration NU15 EPE.

Gloucestershire police said in a statement: "Caroline had arranged to stay in a hotel in Newport, Wales, however she is not there and no-one has heard from her since Sunday evening.

"She is described as being a white woman, around 5ft 8ins in height, of a medium build with dark brown hair. When last seen she was wearing a red top and blue/grey jeans."

Still no word.

She had arranged to stay at a hotel in Newport, but never arrived and car found abandoned on Severn bridge.

No word as to whether car was in running order when found, ie not out of petrol or burst tyre, etc., or if key was still in ignition. It sounds like she just got out and left it.

Latest posts on the police link indicate still not found.

I wonder how hard the police are looking. Not seen any updates or further appeals.
