Fresh appeal over people currently reported as missing in Cornwall

DETAILS: Chad Gibson was last seen at the end of Fore Street in Newquay at about 6pm on the day he was last seen, having left the Central Inn pub heading towards the Headland area and Tower Road.

Extensive police searches of the area and repeated police appeals have failed to find any trace of him.

A new cold case investigation team is looking into the disappearance of a Cornwall man who went missing from Newquay five years ago.

At the time of his disappearance Chad, 32, was heading towards the Headland and Tower Road areas alone. However extensive searches of the area failed to locate him.

Ex-murder detective is helping families 'living on a rollercoaster to hell'

Chad Gibson has been missing since 19th December 2015. He was last seen in Newquay, Cornwall around 6 pm on Saturday 19th December 2015. He was caught on CCTV jogging across a mini roundabout and out of sight.

His mum, Sharon Gibson, 57, said: “He will be missing five years this year.“

She said the night before he vanished he’d met a girl he really liked. He told me; ‘Mum I’ve really met this nice girl and I really like her.’

Later he was in a pub and was speaking to his pal about this girl. A man who’d heard their conversation asked how he knew this girl as they had dated. “He’s a big giant teddy bear 6ft 3in slim with beautiful teeth. “He doesn’t go out looking for trouble and said: ‘Listen mate I didn’t know’. Chad was later followed into the toilet and there was a slight scuffle and one of the men took a photo of Chad. He left the pub around 6pm and he hasn’t been seen since. The last footage was CCTV of him looking at himself in a shop window.

“Apparently they talked to these men and they didn’t take it any further, his mum said.

A heartbroken mum was about to bury her dead son - only to be told the body WASN'T his.

Sharon Gibson spent a month grieving after police told her a corpse they discovered belonged to her missing son Chad.

She thought the gruesome discovery would being closure to the nightmare she has suffered since he disappeared in December last year.

Police told her they had found Chad's body on August 11 and had started planning a final farewell for her son.

But Sharon, 53, of St Austell, Cornwall, was stunned to be told this week that DNA tests have shown it was NOT him.

Police said this week: "Initial formal identification proved inconclusive and the remains were then sent off for specialist DNA testing.

"The laboratory has since confirmed that the human bones found in the area of Newquay are not those of Chad Gibson, who is missing from St Austell.

The fracas that happened in the pub surely can't be a coincidence? And why did the men (man?) take a picture of Chad? To find him later? I think he was done serious harm that night by the bloke from the pub and others, not sure how they hid him though. Maybe bundled him into a car?

Missing people from Cornwall who still haven't been found

It has now been more than five years since Chad Gibson was last seen by his family and friends - and he is just one of dozens of people still missing in Cornwall.

Chad, then aged 32, had been at a pub in Newquay with a friend, but left at around 6pm on the evening of December 19, 2015, after reportedly having a confrontation with a group of men over a woman he had just met.

CCTV footage captured him checking his reflection in a shop window and crossing a road.

Chad, who would now be aged 37, has not been seen or heard from since.


Chad is one of six people who went missing from Cornwall featured on the website Missing People.

Since they vanished, numerous appeals have been issued for information about these six individuals - and they are all listed on the independent website, Missing People.
