It seems like they think Charlie would have crossed the Chapman Street bridge, which from this pic looks to have quite low sides.

Google Maps

For reference, this bridge is a couple of miles downstream from where Libby vanished and a bit less to the estuary/sea.

I agree with the low sides- but I’m not sure they could have accidentally fallen over them. The use of the word fallen, rather than entered the water suggests the footage did not indicate a deliberate entry into the river.

It’s a terrible thing this statement, but it shows what a fantastic effort Humberside police make in those golden hours.

The Oxford English Dictionary has a few entries on fall and this would apply even if someone jumped -

“To move from a higher to a lower level, typically rapidly and without control”

Whilst everything is there in between the lines the police never say in public statements if they think someone missing has killed themselves.

I appreciate that, but in york they always say entered unless they definitively know otherwise in the police statements and we get a lot.

The relevance of the Police presence at The Deep and The Marina is that these are the two locations each side of the mouth of the River Hull where it enters the Humber Estuary and onwards to the open Sea, past Grimsby/Spurn Point ( Where LS's body was recovered).

"The force also appealed for dashcam footage from drivers who were in the Bankside area from around 3am."

Missing Charlie Allan: Police searching Spurn Point for 21-year-old

There is a fair stretch of the river completely open to the road at the top of Wincolmlee before it meets Bankside
The road is also partially closed to traffic and foot passengers at the moment as they are doing flood defence works there- which is possibly how they have found some CCTV that isn’t identifiable (it may have been on one of the works vehicles). And who knows how dangerous the work made that route.

That's interesting thanks ..so if in theory if someone tried to walk this part of the route at night could be quite dangerous

Absolutely, it has been closed in sections for months already, not sure why anyone would intentionally choose to walk down there, alone in the dark as there is nothing down there it’s very industrial and doesn’t cut through to anywhere. Wonder where he was heading? The CCTV must also have been incredibly poor quality as his duffel coat would be quite distinctive I would have thought.
