I saw it in article too and they did not specify. There is Georgia state in America and Georgia state in ex Russia. I doubt he would go east. Or am I missing some other Georgia somewhere?

The article I read mentioned Russia, I did a google search for it earlier and I can't find it again. 100% certain I read it though.
Where is Shepherd? Detectives hunting him suspect he may have fled the UK, possibly to Spain or Georgia. Police told Charlotte’s family the former Soviet country was a possible hiding place.

The decision to grant leave to appeal his conviction with the help of legal aid has caused outrage and prompted David Gauke, the Justice Secretary, to vow to examine legal aid rules.

Graham Brown, Charlotte’s father, has said he has “no confidence” the police are actively seeking Shepherd.
“I suspect police haven’t got a clue where he is,” “I have got no confidence, actually, that the authorities are actively looking for him.”
Mr Brown also criticised Shepherd’s family for failing to speak out publicly and urge him to hand himself in.

Quite funny the current UK government banging on about reforming Legal Aid. They've decimated Legal Aid during their time in office and made justice much more difficult for poorer people to obtain. Trusting them to sort out Legal Aid is like trusting a lion to look after your kids.
I really do feel for Charlotte's family, her dad is spot on. When the police say they're doing everything what they actually mean is we've passed the details on to other European Police via Interpol but we aren't actually doing any active searching.
The solicitors also showed how woefully out of touch they are as well, talking about a £30,000 fee as though it's loose change. It's double what some poorer people earn in a whole year!

Speedboat killer Jack Shepherd took out loans totalling more than £50,000 before going on the run, it can be disclosed.
He was due to stand trial at the Old Bailey but fled after being arrested for grievous bodily harm with intent in march 2018 after a fight in his local pub in his home town of Moretonhampstead in Devon.
The well-placed source said: “he has withdrawn all that money in September [2016]. Something must have triggered him to take these loans and cash them in. It’s possible he had been planning his getaway for some time before he finally fled but the incident in the pub triggered him to go in March last year.”

The web designer obtained the loans between January 2016 and May 2016, sources say.
..today the Telegraph revealed he defaulted on about 10 unsecured loans.
The largest of the loans is thought to be about £10,000..
Shepherd is understood to have secured loans by giving a series of different addresses to the companies and banks in question.

Shepherd, 31, sported a new beard and shaven head as he walked into a police station, telling reporters that he hoped his arrest would allow everyone to 'move on'.

I hope he gets extra time on his sentence.
For some reason I think opposite and do not believe for one min that he feels guilty at all, even now. Lots of narcissistic traits are shown in many of his actions.
Even though I personally think that it was tragic accident and not planned as in other horiffic murders we see on this boards, his actions prior and after accident however sealed the deal for his conviction.
His excessive speeding (while drunk), shady boat, and most importantly not calling help for her while he himself was being rescued which resulted in her death. And on top of it all him running away.
Yes, his sentence should be definitely harsher now then original one. While I do not know legal procedures, due to high publicity and even MPs being aware of this case for a while, judges, family and public will make sure of it.
