SPEEDBOAT killer Jack Shepherd has launched a second brazen appeal — this time against his conviction for absconding.

An extra six months was added to his sentence for the absconsion, however, his legal team is now thought to be claiming that this offence, as listed in his extradition papers, was poorly defined, according to the Sun.

Because a vague definition of the absconsion offence was offered, the lawyers reportedly believe that the Old Bailey should not have heard the case.

Speedboat killer Jack Shepherd has been jailed for four more years for hitting a barman over the head with a bottle in a drink-fuelled attack.

The 31-year-old, who is currently serving a prison sentence for the speedboat death of Charlotte Brown, pleaded guilty to attacking former soldier David Beech.

He was given a four-year term which will run consecutively to the six-year sentence he is serving for the manslaughter of Charlotte Brown in 2015.

Jailing him for four years, Judge David Evans told Shepherd: “Mr Beech had reasonably asked your friend to leave as he would not be serving a customer who was visibly drunk.

“Your friend headed for the door and Mr Beech then asked you to do likewise, and when you became confrontational he explained why he was asking you to leave.
“You should have left. The CCTV footage which I have seen in full shows that you took from your pocket a full glass bottle of vodka which you had brought with you and you held it primed and ready behind your back as Mr Beech reiterated the need to leave.

“Mr Beech then turned to accompany your friend out of the door and you took that opportunity to take the vodka bottle from behind your back and strike Mr Beech across the head with a very hard blow.

“The bottle connected with his forehead and you wounded him in such a way that afterwards he had to be taken to hospital and his wound stitched and glued.

“He described the stunning effect of the blow as being like a blow from a baseball bat.”

During the sentencing hearing, Shepherd appeared to sob and wipe tears from his face.

So is that 10.5 years in total, starting from when he was detained? And would that make him eligible for parole in about 2024? If the idiot had fessed up in 2015 he'd have got a lighter sentence and been out by now. That's what arrogance gets you.

Story time. Years ago in India me and boyf at the time hired a moped for a few days to explore. He always drove, any witnesses or cameras would show he was driving. But on a quiet road just before we took it back I decided to have a go at driving and crashed after a few minutes. Nobody about, no buildings with cameras or anything. We were bruised and gravel-grazed but stopped short of a sheer drop. Had I died in that crash there is no doubt in my mind he absolutely would have got done for it. Nobody would have believed him and he'd have got jailed while entirely innocent.

So, while I'm not 100% about whether Shepherd was driving the speedboat or whether Charlotte took a turn, his arrogant behaviour and general cockiness makes me feel this is the right sentence. Bet he'll appeal it, though.

It really should be!! If this guy had been humble, remorseful and manned up to the situation, he might even have got a bit of sympathy from the public. Obviously he didn't intend to kill Charlotte - he's no murderer - but his actions since are disgraceful and he's got his just desserts. Slow hand clap.

All sentences should be consecutively in my view if they're for completely separate things. If they're concurrently then you've effectively got away with the other crimes without doing the sentence.

Shepherd, formerly of Bristol, is appealing against his manslaughter conviction and Court of Appeal judges will hear that application on June 13.

His arrogance is astounding. When he was arrested in Georgia he was trying to dictate under what terms he would come back to the UK!

I've heard it said before that those that lack any sort of empathy can be some of the most dangerous people. This guy fits that profile as he didn't think anything of bottling that barman.

Jack Shepherd's appeal judgment withheld until next week. Interestingly, it was the news that this appeal had been granted last Dec that prompted the huge publicity that eventually led to him being tracked down in Georgia. Without it, he might still be there...
