I can't think of many cases where the mispers friends have "come forward" and spoken to the media, it's usually the family that speak with the media. I can't see why people think the lack of vocal friends is somehow suspect.

It's called investigative journalism but doesn't seem to happen much today- they just pull it off the Internet these days IMO. I was talking about his current friends mainly- the ones he socialised with all over BSE for three years. But friends from prior to that too, from when he was at college for instance, I have not seen a peep. And I'm not saying the regular media necessarily but nothing even on social media seemingly. For someone so popular and the life and soul, I think it smacks a bit of a conspiracy of silence- all JMO of course.

This wasn't about journalists interviewing people, but a possible conspiracy where people had been found and told/paid to keep quiet about C. IMO it's a lot if trouble to track down anyone who had contact with C and why do it anyway? Why would you want to silence someone who know him whilst studying hairdressing?

Given that C dropped out of college and flitted between jobs, maybe no-one knew him that well. There's a difference between being friendly with and being friends with. And - rhetorical question - who is it that's saying he's popular, "everybody’s friend" and "finds himself in people’s hearts"?

His dad has said there was no DSMA-Notice to stop publishing and:

"the agency that was paid tens-of-thousands from the public crowdfunding provided absolutely no new information to the police whatsoever"

So who is pushing the blatant lies? And what is their agenda?

Yes, statements such as this raise more questions than answers don't they?

I have never felt that the huge social media campaign was a good idea - my opinion only of course.
It has seemed to me that at times that there are attempts to drive or influence the police investigation through social media, instead of recognising that the police have access to much more information and resources than the public are aware and do actually know what they are doing.

I feel the social media campaign <modsnip> has done more harm than good. The overall attitude has been harmful.

What exactly did McKenzie Intelligence Service provide?

His dad:

“The McKeague family in Scotland have made repeated efforts to fix these lies as each was printed. “We have tried at every opportunity to tell the truth, including that MIS, the agency that was paid tens-of-thousands from the public crowdfunding provided absolutely no new information to the police whatsoever; there was never a DSMA-Notice (which is an official request to news editors not to publish or broadcast items on specified subjects for reasons of national security); the police never seized and searched the wrong bin lorry. “All of the above can be confirmed by the Suffolk police.”

I understood Mckenzie Services were employed to search social media posts in the hope of finding leads? There was talk of their using satellite technology to help track other phones used at the time Corrie disappeared IIRC ? Happy to be corrected.

I only hope that giving out family/supporter phone numbers for people to ring with information and tips instead of encouraging the public to contact official police lines has not hindered this case.

I don't think I suggested being paid off or silenced but it has always struck me as strange that's all. "He always came in with his American friend from the base". Where was he that night and why has he never come forward or any of his RAF friends? Perhaps the MOD did ask them to keep quiet? Why don't we know? These are valid questions to ask about someone who has gone missing. Perhaps he had friends no one knew about who picked him up that night and has done him harm. Most people have some friends they know throughout their life. For someone like C it doesn't sit right for me, that's all. AJMO except the paraphrased quote.

A lorry load of Facebook posts AFAIK.

Were the Honiton and Mildenhall bases ever searched?

“The search to find a missing RAF airman will start again on Monday, MailOnline can report.

Corrie McKeague went missing after a night out in Bury St Edmunds in September last year.

The search so far has centred on a landfill site in Milton, Cambridgeshire after fears that Corrie may have fallen asleep in a rubbish bin and been transported away in a bin lorry.

But it was called off in July after officers spent 20 weeks sifting through 6,500 tonnes of waste but found nothing.

May this be the search that finds Corrie.

Honington was searched. And it's always policy that military do not speak to the media without clearance, not just in this case, so C's RAF friends not being heard from is not unusual.

That's good it was searched. I know his room was searched. Do you have a link saying the base was searched? I don't suppose you know about Mildenhall? As it is over a year, I would have thought his RAF friends should be free to speak now.

Thankyou for the link Jessie. So after 04.20 leaving the horseshoe, the bin lorry had "several collections in BSE". That's it then - he got out at one of those other locations and walked/hitched from one of those. What were the other locations and have they searched those areas too?
Does anyone know where these several collections in BSE were after Brentgovel?

  • #455
As the LFsearch starts again Monday, I just checked Cags poll and it stands as follows at present

In landfill 2
Not in landfill 16

Hmmmm

No link I can find other than FC website; can't remember where else I saw it.

The USAF bases, whilst leased from the MOD, are basically autonomous and responsible for their own security. I haven't seen whether or not they've been searched, but there's got to be strong reasons.

There's no time limit on the media policy and I doubt there's anything to be gained from C's friends. <modsnip>, given what's happened, talking about socialising isn't good for security or great PR. Can't see that the media would be interested in how C was viewed as a work colleague...

Was it ever confirmed that Bury CCTV was or is monitored 24 hours?

I understand the cameras are on automatic but also respond to movement (or am I wrong here?),

Just interested whether there is an employee monitoring the town CCTV especially in the early hours considering the number of clubs in BSE. TIA

Not 100%, but the other Greggs rings a bell (Abbeygate Street).

I believe at the time they were monitored at weekends but not positive. And I do think they respond to movement. :cow:
