Has a freedom of information request been submitted in relation to this case does anybody know?

This article is dated a year ago. There seems to be a cctv footage of a guy leaving HS area that night. A quote, "Mrs Urquhart said she believed it was her son and if members of the public saw the footage "no-one would believe he went in the bin".

Man traced on missing airman footage

Why does police claim the otherwise and not show the footage in public?

  • #723
The way I read it, this person was not Corrie and he has come forward to the police and identified himself. There is no reason why the footage should be made public as everyone in it has been identified.

Yes, I see.

I think I recall reading that Roy wasn't originally 100% sure that his sighting was on the night of C's disappearance.

You recall correctly!

'A spokeswoman for the Suffolk force said: “Police have located the report made, which said a person was seen running across the road. No description of the person could be given and it was said to have been around 4am but the caller could not be specific about the day. The time given was prior to Corrie’s phone leaving Bury St Edmunds." '

I'm one that said at the start he'd gone AWOL. Why? Just a strong gut feeling but if it were me I'd stay away from trains on the main lines.

Same as you wouldn't run across the A11 in front of a van doing 70mph!

I wonder if Corrie has had some kind of a secret Life the family has had totally no idea of.

Anything is possible when you don't know for sure, but that doesn't mean it's probable. I know that you are convinced he walked off to another life under a different identity, but you can't seem to provide any explanation for the how of it all -- things like how he is surviving if he can't work at a legitimate job, how he is going unrecognized when his face was plastered all over the world, how he could allow his family to publicly grieve so much for him, how he could have left the country without proper credentials, etc. People need money to survive, and you have to interact with people to do things like going to market, seeking medical care, etc., which means you're likely to be recognized. If you buy new identity papers, it's quite costly, and that still doesn't change the fact that your face has been on everyone's TV and computer screen for months straight. People don't keep secrets unless they have a personal investment, so it's not like a community is going to welcome him and not mention to anyone that he's living next door or was spotted living in a hut in the hills herding sheep.

Maybe he wanted to disappear for some reason, but never thought it would come to this.

Of course Corrie knew it would come to this! There's procedures instigated when anyone, let alone a member of the Armed Forces, is reported missing! He knew the rules about his commitment to the RAF and the implications of AWOL.

I very much doubt that he wouldn't have known that a storm would be kicked up over his disappearance. He had a very close relationship with his family, difficult to see him let them suffer like this.

I'd bet my house that 99% of the long-term missing in this country are deceased. It's a lot easier to hide a dead body here than an alive one. There are very few stories of people turning up after years, and barely any since digital technology arrived. Can't name a single one apart from canoe dude.

It's extremely unlikely Corrie is alive, sadly.

I agree with this one, quote...

"Another possibility, and this really does worry me, is that he was seized by Islamaloons. You may recall that there was an attempt a month or so ago by a couple of presumed Islamic militants to kidnap an RAF serviceman near a base in Norfolk. If they've taken to hanging around outside military bases like that, then a young man seen in the vicinity of an RAF base early in the morning is a possible target."

I know it was discussed at the beginning but personally I would say not, only because after all this time, they haven't come forward. The only benefit kidnapping an RAF serviceman would give the terrorists is if people know they did it.

I don't mean it as a terrorist act. Corrie was a pretty boy, so he was a perfect target for people with sinister intentions.
Also Nicola in the beginning believed Corrie was kidnapped, why?

Nicola has always had the professional v personal dilemma; all possibilities have to be considered and kidnap was a possibility, but as a mother it's better to think of your son alive and being held somewhere from where he could be released or rescued than being dead. I don't think she honestly took the 'being held in someone's bedroom' that seriously.

As for being good-looking, plenty of Armed Forces personnel that fit that category. So why Corrie in particular and for what intention?

The previous incident was far from cut and dried iirc. There was zero evidence of any abduction attempt. I think it's a red herring.

Wasn't it reported that Corrie was spotted in London? Though if he was snatched for sinister intentions e.g. sex slave he wouldn't be seen out in public.

Like Miss French says Nicola thought in the early days Corrie had been taken and was alive. As a mum I get why she would be looking down that route. His dad seemed to accept the fact that he was gone, dead somewhere.

I think the evidence is substantial enough to say that Corrie is at the landfill site having fell asleep in the bin. There’s nothing sinister about it, he had done this previously and it’s the most logical explanation. Such a shame for his family.
