I said in the beginning it could be revenge thing and someone has him in a cellar somewhere, the only other is AWOL.

But why would someone have him prisoner all this time? Why do you think he abandoned everything to go AWOL, instead of planning or getting a medical discharge from the RAF, considering his MH issues?

No. Nicola said two people walked out of the rehab place who told her they were not supposed to be staying there. She was the source of that story and my previous post was her own quote.

And Nicola was quoted in the media about 2 men in the HS who had been sleeping rough, as I described. That was where I saw the story, in the media, not on the Q&A. So why did none of the press refer to Focus in their stories and, if what they said was incorrect, why no moves for it to be amended?

At 23 you're an adult and can make your own decisions and he could have moved on to do something else and cut contact with his family But what 'different life' can you have with no access to ID or a bank account and with only the clothes you are wearing? At least if you pack your bags you've got less initial expense and all the basics to be going on with. Who would be supporting him otherwise? Corrie had expensive tastes, you think he'd go from Ralph Lauren and Timberland to George or F&F?

It's easy for us to say that it wouldn't have been difficult, or that he wouldn't have been letting his family down by leaving the RAF. But we also need to consider his mental state. We know that he had mental health issues. People who suffer from forms of depression and who are suicidal don't necessary think in the same way as other people. And I say that as being one of those people. I can't pretend to talk for anyone else, although I do work with people with mental health conditions so I know my emotions and thoughts are not uncommon. People who feel suicidal often feel that the world would better off without them. They may feel they are doing their family a service by leaving. I'm not saying that Corrie was suicidal. But if he has chosen to disappear, then he may well have felt that leaving was the only way out for him. He may have felt that his life was difficult, and that he saw no way out. Leaving and never contacting anyone ever again may have seemed like the only option. OR maybe he just wanted to get away from it all, did a runner, and now regrets it but feels that it would be too embarrassing to turn up now, knowing they searched a rubbish tip for him

Yes living life on the run with no ID would be difficult, and it may be that he acted rashly, based on his alcohol consumption and maybe regretted it later. I'm not saying it would be easy to start a new life somewhere. But it has been done, and can be done. Plenty of people manage to fly under the radar in life.

So how many people have disappeared on a drunken night out with a bit of cash in their wallet and started a new life somewhere? Don't see how it can be done without help, and Corrie wasn't the brightest so he has, what, found someone awake in the early hours that he could contact via encrypted messages or has got to in the middle of the night without attracting attention and who has subbed him for food and clothes, and he's got fake documents and a job? After a few pints he's had an epiphany and given up all the designer trappings and money from his mum? And given the months between his disappearance and the search of the landfill would know his family would be devastated, but hasn't left a message to say I'm ok, but don't find me?

Murder investigation launched after human bones found in Suffolk river

A murder investigation has been launched after human bones were found in two bin bags dumped in a river near a small market town.

Police were called following the discovery in the River Stour in Suffolk near Sudbury on Thursday afternoon.

Officers cordoned off the area to carry out a search.

Suffolk Police said the bones had been confirmed as human remains and “due to the suspicious circumstances in which they were found, detectives are treating this as a murder investigation”.

Inspector Kevin Horton, local policing commander for Sudbury, said: “We appreciate that local residents are likely to find this discovery alarming, and as such we will be increasing police patrols in the town to provide reassurance.

“Officers are also likely to remain at the scene over the weekend and into the early part of next week.

“Discoveries such as this are extremely rare – especially in Suffolk – and as such we do not believe there is any cause for concern to members of the public.”

Detectives have pleaded with people for information.

“Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity close to the river, where a submerged shopping trolley and the bags containing the bones were discovered nearby,” Suffolk Police said in a statement.

“Alternatively, anyone who has seen the bags in the river or knows how they came to be in the water or who uses the route regularly is asked to come forward with any relevant information.”

The black bin bags were fished out of the river between Meadow Gates and Croft Bridge.

so they seem to be suggesting that the bones may have been put into the river fairly recently??? I suppose the condition of the black bags may give an indication

Yes, it seems that the remains have been moved recently - quite a risky thing to do, especially in a well-used area. Maybe they have been swept down-stream from where they were deposited (recently or originally), perhaps dislodged by recent high water levels/flow.

There are a few more details in local press than in The Independent. The remains were discovered on Thursday afternoon, and the post mortem took place today which should show the person's gender and height. Some information from PM may be released next week, but apparently it's unlikely there will be any significant developments in the investigation.

Still no mention of who the victim might be. At first, I assumed that might be because they (police and/or press) think it's unlikely to be Corrie, but now I wonder if it is because they think it IS him. Otoh, I'm over-thinking it and they really don't have an opinion without further information.

Just saw the bones article and immediately thought of Corrie so came straight here for info.

ETA Sudbury is 18 miles due south of BSE on the A134.

I would also say we have had a week of torrential rains and some floods so these remains may well have been dislodged from higher upstream IMO.
