Was Sidney Cooke in the area when Daniel went missing?

Twenty years ago today, a seven-year-old boy went on his bike to play in the Norfolk town of Great Yarmouth. He was never seen again.

The last known images of Daniel Entwistle are from grainy CCTV footage of him walking around a shop.

It was a bank holiday Saturday and the youngster had been sent on an errand by his parents. It is understood he returned home and asked whether he could play out on his bike.

Bumping up for Daniel.
I just learned of this sad case today after seeing it on social media.
I think he could now be added to the Doe Network website? if there is anyone following this case able to do that.

Until a few years ago, I hadn't heard of him either. Do you think it's possible the case could be related to the Andrew Gosden case? I know they took place in different counties, but Robert Black travelled around the country delivering posters. Maybe something similar happened in this case.
I doubt that very, very much. As we now know all too well, paedophiles are far more common than we like to think. The answer to what happened to Daniel is almost certainly within his own community - there were more than enough known offenders living there. At least 5 within a 1 km radius of his home.

UK seaside resorts which have been in decline since the 60s have become dumping grounds for paedophiles & ex prisoners. There's a huge industry in rehousing them when released into the community, former hotels & large houses can be picked up relatively cheaply & are bought by organisations re settling former prisoners. They're converted to flats & their rent mostly paid by housing benefit Councils are also given grants to take in offenders. Blackpool has over 1200 sex offenders, many with convictions against children, I don't know the figures for Great Yarmouth, only visited once on a motorcycling trip to East Anglia in 2017. There's almost certain to be paedophiles & other sex offenders living off the grid in Great Yarmouth.
The Andrew Ventham, Jim Hall & Derek Tempest incident sounds like an episode of Prime Suspect or Waking the Dead! Hall & Ventham's wrongdoing (of which there must be plenty going back many years) warrants further investigation.

Jesus! I didn't know about the Ventham / Hall / Tempest stuff. As you rightly say, sadly all too common in places like Blackpool. It seems that anywhere with social breakdown and cheap accomodation ends up being a hotspot for paedophiles, I think not only because they get dumped there after being convicted, but also because in far too many instances, they themselves are the product of highly chaotic families, have never learned any boundaries, and may well have been abused themselves as kids.

One of the things that struck in reading up on what was happening in Croydon in relation to the Kevin Hicks case is the astonishing number of child sex offenders (including a startling number of women) there has been over the years in the New Addington area of Croydon. No surprise that New Addington is used as a dumping ground for the most problematic families. It's no suprise also that recent cases in the news in Wolverhampton and Glasgow also involved groups living in area with the very worst social and familial chaos.
