__

#LatestNews - we continue to be concerned for the welfare of 35-year-old Daniel Mizzi, who has been reported missing from Plymouth.

Following extensive enquiries by officers it was established that Daniel was seen at St Erth train station at 12.08pm on Friday 8 December.

He was seen a short time later walking towards the coastal path at the Carbis Bay Hotel.

The last confirmed sighting of Daniel was at 1.38pm, where he was seen walking along the coastal path at Porthmeor Beach.

We are continuing to appeal for anyone who may have seen Daniel, particularly after the last sighting at Porthmeor, to report any relevant information to us.

Including anyone who was walking on the coastal path on Friday and anyone in the area who may have CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage and hasn’t already been spoken to by police.

Anyone who sees Daniel is asked to contact police on 999 quoting 50230321378.

I am often thinking of Daniel and his family. Hoping they find some answers and some closure soon.

A note about his arrival in Carbis Bay and then in Porthmeor: I’ve walked that section of coast path from Lelant (a shorter distance than from St Erth station). I’m a fairly experienced long distance walker. I do a lot in very remote high moorland areas. I agree with the assessment that there is no way that he walked that distance, particularly dressed as he was dressed, in 1 hr and 45 minutes. Parts of the SW coast path run along the dunes (in Hayle) and it’s very hilly coming into and out of Carbis Bay/St Ives. I came away from that section quite wet and muddy and I was walking in early October when conditions would have been much less wet.

I suppose it’s possible he walked on the road to Porthmeor, but unless he knew the area well, I think that would also be impossible in that time frame. I got lost a few times myself and I had a well planned route and was following an actual signposted path through the streets.

JMO but he must have taken a train/bus/taxi and tracking down the payment method for that might give some indication of how his onward journey was possible. Did he pay with cash? Did he pay from an account that was different than his main account? Maybe he didn’t pay at all if he ran and hopped on the train to Carbis Bay and the guard never came through.

Thinking on the possibility that he was there to meet someone, were there any hobbies he was into that might be involved - gaming, getting a rare collectible, anything like that?

I am getting a "This page isn't available at the moment" message on that link.

I'd like to take a look at this case. Do we know if Daniel's computer/laptop/devices were ever looked at by police?

Read up on some/all? of the case and there's not a huge amount of information to go on. However, Daniel's brother (who I think posted earlier in the thread) posted online with some updates, including that Daniel's electronic equipment was looked at by police who found no evidence of online dating profiles etc. There was also a brief part about police finding Daniel did have some debt but that it wasn't necessarily enough to make someone want to disappear (although that cannot be ruled out due to lack of evidence either way).

My own thoughts so far are that Daniel was wearing a backpack and had a return train ticket, so I do agree with what others have said. On the surface, it did sound like he was intending to come back. I am leaning towards Daniel going to meet someone rather than anything else. From reading earlier in the thread, it sounds like there were more CCTV stills the police had, did they ever get released? It's hard to form an opinion or follow the breadcrumbs without the police showing all CCTV sightings in a missing person's case.

Of course, this is just my opinion based on the little I know so far about the case.
