Devon and Cornwall Police have named the 51-year-old Plymouth man at the centre of a Dartmoor Search and Rescue mission.

David Doe, from Mannamead in Plymouth, was last seen at 10am on Sunday 19 December and police believe he may be in the Cadover Bridge area of Dartmoor National Park.

David has been described as 6ft2in tall, a heavy build with short brown hair, he 'may be' wearing jeans, a t-shirt and a puffa anorak.

Locals reported a large emergency presence in the Cadover Bridge area, on the edge of Dartmoor on Sunday evening.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed officers were searching for a missing person and had joined forces with Dartmoor Search and Rescue and Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.

Police drones and dog handlers were also spotted on the scene.

A witness told Plymouth Live: "Just driven past and car park full of police cars, Dartmoor Search and Rescue, and lots of drones and police dogs."

The search for a 51-year-old Plymouth man will continue into a third day tomorrow morning, say search and rescue officials.

David Doe, from Mannamead in Plymouth, was last seen at 10am on Sunday 19 December. Police believe he may be in the Cadover Bridge area of Dartmoor National Park.

Dartmoor Search & Rescue Team said in a post on social media this evening that the rescue team and other agencies paused their search efforts "at dusk, with a view to returning tomorrow morning”.

The post added that David is considered to be 'at high risk'.

The full tweet reads: “Team called mid-morning to assist in a search for an individual deemed at high risk that had started last night at #Cadover Bridge, #Dartmoor. This multi-agency search was suspended at dusk, with a view to returning tomorrow morning.”

Emergency services are due to head into their third day of searching for "high risk" missing man, David Doe, on Dartmoor.

51-year-old David has been missing since 10am on Sunday, with the search focused on the River Plym valley after his car was found at Cadover Bridge.

Dartmoor Search and Rescue (DSRT) teams have been working with police to scour the remote terrain and find David.

On Monday, DSRT sent 32 volunteers from their Tavistock and Plymouth teams to assist Devon and Cornwall Police (D&CP) officers.

They were called in at 10:55am, and worked alongside D&CP Marine and Dive team, D&CP Drones, D&CP Search Dogs, Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England Dog Team, Devon and Cornwall 4x4 Response and Dartmoor National Park Ranger.

A body has been found on Dartmoor as part of the search for high-risk missing man David Doe.

The 51-year-old has been missing since 10am on Sunday, with the search focused on the River Plym valley after his car was found at Cadover Bridge.

But the Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team (DSRT) tweeted about the discovery this evening.

"A second day of searching for a male deemed at high risk who'd been missing since Sunday and was thought to be near #Cadover, #Dartmoor," the team tweeted.

"In early afternoon, we stood down as he was found, sadly deceased.

"Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time."

I hate to see people commit suicide. I like to believe I would never do it, but I'm positive that if I did I would choose somewhere to do it other than where there was any chance that my moral remains might be referred to as the "Cadover cadaver"
