David Doe, from Mannamead in Plymouth, was last seen at 10am on Sunday 19 December and police believe he may be in the Cadover Bridge area of Dartmoor National Park.
David has been described as 6ft2in tall, a heavy build with short brown hair, he 'may be' wearing jeans, a t-shirt and a puffa anorak.
Locals reported a large emergency presence in the Cadover Bridge area, on the edge of Dartmoor on Sunday evening.
Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed officers were searching for a missing person and had joined forces with Dartmoor Search and Rescue and Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.
Police drones and dog handlers were also spotted on the scene.
A witness told Plymouth Live: "Just driven past and car park full of police cars, Dartmoor Search and Rescue, and lots of drones and police dogs."
