There are local rumours that the crime scene was gruesome.

"The families of two men whose bodies were discovered inside an Edinburgh flat have said they will be “forever missed and remembered with love”.

Desmond Rowlings, 66, and 37-year-old Derek Johnston were found dead by police at a property in Greendykes Road on the evening of Tuesday, November 1.

Desmond’s daughters paid tribute to their father, who they said was a “loving, happy go lucky man who kept himself to himself”. “He will be forever missed and remembered with love,” they said. “As a family we ask for respect and privacy whilst we come to terms during this extremely difficult time.”

Desmond’s family’s heartbreak was echoed in a statement issued by Derek’s mum and sister, who said their hearts “will never mend”. “A deeply loved son and brother, my handsome boy who had such a beautiful soul,” they said. “He will be forever missed and remembered with much love and affection.”
They added: “As a family we ask for respect and privacy during this extremely difficult time.”

Detective Chief Inspector Susan Balfour, of Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team, said her thoughts were with the families and friends of both men and added that specialist officers are providing support to them.

Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with their deaths. Ian Mcleod, 65, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday charged with two counts of murder. A 40-year-old is due to appear at the same court today."

I live in Edinburgh and have been waiting to hear if there was anymore on this. There was supposedly a whatapp screenshot message making the rounds that described a horrific scene. Hard to tell if it was just made up though, but it might be true based on this news article: Edinburgh double death flat cop shaken by bloodbath scene 'vomited from shock'

Also, unsurprisingly it looks like this isn't Ian MacLeod's first offence: Corkscrew attacker jailed

And the 40-year-old man appears to be his son (Denim, aka Dean) Knifeman sparked siege days before dad stabbed wife

Denim MacLeod had stabbed himself with the serrated kitchen knife before using the weapon to keep officers at bay at Caledonian Place in Dalry.

The 28-year-old pleaded guilty at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday to conducting himself in a disorderly manner, running at police officers while brandishing a knife and a breach of the peace following the incident at his flat on 5 August last year.

It can now be revealed that in an apparently unrelated incident on 8 August, his father, Ian MacLeod, mutilated his estranged wife's face with a corkscrew in a frenzied attack.

The 46-year-old was jailed for six years in December for the vicious attack on Debra MacLeod, 46, who was left scarred for life after part of her cheek was torn out.

Has anyone heard anything further about this case? Not seen anything since the victims were named, not sure if the criminal justice system is different in Scotland compared to England.

This should have been to court by now. I wonder what’s going on?

do the initials stand for anything? the father and the son...(why do/i read WS again?)
YLT = Young Leith Team. I'd hesitate to call it a gang in the traditional, organised crime sense. Gang-lite maybe. But, as the name suggests, it's a young people thing. Kinda low level. For men of their age to be affiliating themselves is *blink*
