GUILTY UK - Dr. Saman Mir Sacharvi, 49, & Vian Mangrio, 14, found dead, Reedley, 1 Oct 2020 *ARREST*

Intending to pervert the course of justice in a murder investigation is a serious offence. She is alleged to have actively tried to help her husband evade justice.

We aren't in a position to judge the strength of the evidence the police has. It's likely to be more than an assumption. I don't know if she is likely to get bail at her hearing in March.

The crimes SK is accused of (two counts of murder and arson) will have been investigated by police before he was charged.

I think you may be confusing the 'investigation' with what will happen at his trial, when the evidence will be put to a jury? You are right that the charges aren't proven until a jury decides he is guilty.
True I agree the offence term is very serious.
My point is when the SK investigations were “completed” before being charged. Why They got to know after 4-5 months that his partner was also involved? And they need to charge her now?
Must be some investigation flaw.

I disagree. Wife was arrested a week after the murders. Looks like they needed to find enough evidence to be able to charge her but all along they knew she played a part.

So my observation is valid that investigations still going on.

No as they've both been charged.
In newspapers live links are given that means it’s On, Definitely They have to conclude case and they imposed charge.

Thanks for posting the update.

Just posting a few lines from the article to have the information in the thread -

Rabia Fatima Shahbaz, 44, of Ribble Avenue, Burnley, was sent on bail to Preston Crown Court charged with purposely giving false information to police in a statement in order to mislead a double murder investigation which had a tendency to pervert the course of public justice. She will appear before the Crown Court on March 22.

A condition of bail which prohibited contact with her husband was removed and the only remaining condition is one of residence.

Hi, your mention of "kids" makes me think you may be misinterpreting the use of "pervert" in this sense.

Not sure what the best explanation is, but "perverting the course of justice" is something along the lines of obstructing justice by deliberate lying, hiding evidence, giving a false alibi etc. It's not a sexual thing in this context.

No as they've both been charged.

Even though individuals have been charged, an investigation can still be ongoing into anything related to the case. (i.e. IF perhaps to determine if others were involved, IF perhaps additional information can be found to even further support the prosecution's case against those currently charged, etc).

In other words, an investigation does not stop just because 2 individuals are charged.
